You let it slide down your line, when it gets to your lure, jiggle it around and the chains get tangled in your hooks. Then pull the lure out with the heavy line.

Thx for your input. Wow, I'm fixin to order one of those from Amazon, great idea.

I have the Okuma Celilo paired with a Daiwa Regal 2500 reel, its awesome for trout and panfish. I think the pair was $100 or less.

Nope and nope. They aren't here yet. I should be on my boat right now but im a newbie boat owner LOL and I dont have much boating experience.

I'm fishing Snodgrass Slough right now and since this AM, hoping the nice weather would inspire the bite, nope.

I've got bloodworms, sardines, anchovies and lures and I can't find a fish. This spot usually holds plenty...is it Spring yet?

I checked out both aps. They both seem like a lot of work setting them up. Guess I am just old school. When I get home from fishing, I jot down a few things and I am done. I know the younger generation would probably love these as they spend half their lives looking at their phone. Not for me.....too old. Would rather be fishing.

They are not hard to set up at all. Enter your information, your location and thats it. You will also see what lots of other around you are catching.

Pen and paper is good too, but this is more fun. I like pictures, especially fish pictures.

There is an app for that, Fishbrain. I record my catches, locations and use it to find new spots or there is another, Fish Angler. Check em out!

There are so many Tackle Backpacks nowadays, google it. Amazon has several as well. Walmart even has a backpack/chair combo that has a built in tacklebox and really nice built in rod holder.

I take the wife with me. LOL That limits how much I can spend.

That's the only way. Left to my own devices, I tend to get carried away.

Thanks so much for the tips. I ended up going to Lake Amador and my buddy and I both skunked. We moved around a bit too. Wasn't much being caught a anyhere on the shores, saw two overall.

Tried Garcia Bend Park on my lunch break Monday and caught a bunch of small Rainbow trout (I think) on a Kastmaster. Nothing to grill but no skunk.
