WELL, the weather looks nice, but if you ask me , that water looks pretty cold to me.

Well, you're certainly right about that ! The North Atlantic can be very cold, even in mid-summer !
Funny thing about that 'Gulf Stream' current - if it flows
further out to sea, the shoreline water is frigid and just standing ankle-deep for five minutes can numb your feet/legs right up to your knees, but when it flows closer to shore, it's usually
warm enough that you can actually swim in it, and
sometimes the difference is
only a day apart ! Also, the water seems colder at Maine beaches than in N.H. !
This should have gone with last posting - senility strikes again !
This is another view of the area, taken from the top of Cadillac Mountain on Mt. Desert Island
in Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Maine !

Beautiful picture Gordon but Iโm with saw, the water looks cold.
September of "74 " spent a week there on my 1st. honeymoon and it is amazing in person looking out to those Islands named Big Moose and Little Moose . the only sand beach on Mt. Desert Island is about 100 yards wide with steep rock cliffs on either side . didn't get to fish but Bar harbor is really nice and i remember feeling like i stepped back in time a hundred years . at the campground people brought lobster almost every night $2 cooked ,it was really nice . Thanks Big A for the picture it brought back some fine memories .
I don't think Mainians knon't know what what desert really is. Hot, arid, sandy, cactus, scorpions, not to mention the rattlers that habitat the rocks. Just picking on the american english. To me Maine means cold. Satisfied with pics.

That's why all the Canadian tourists go to NJ to vacation on the beach.
