Have 15 lb power pro v2 and 6lb seaugar red, doing the double uni knot and I can't get my flouro to not snap, I tied a polamar knot with it so see if it was the line and it worked fine, was cutting in to me before snapping. I am wetting the knots when tightening, not sure what I'm doing wrong, watched several videos of people doing it but can't get it myself. Flouro doesn't want to slide down the braid either which I feel like might be part of the problem.

I’ve heard some say that you absolutely cannot set the hook swinging flies, that it will only pull the fly away from the fish, that you should let the fish chew on it for around 15 seconds and slowly lift just to get tension on the fish. Doesn’t make too much sense to me, I’ve never had a fish hold onto a fly for 15 seconds this just doesn’t make much sense to me.

I have no maggots, no worms basically no live bait and i was thinking maybe dough balls would work for float fishing? The fish here are rudd, european perch, roach pretty much all these basic fish (no bluegill or stuff like that, im in Lithuania). Lmk if you have tried this bait for these fish. I would use a float.

Hey all! I’m packing up and moving across the country. I’m putting everything I own in a shipping POD and getting it delivered.

How have you all safely packed up your poles to avoid any damage?

I’m thinking somewhere between 6-6’6” MLXF to cover finesse and light jigs/drop shots, possibly a second of the same length in MF for top water/cranks.

I’ve been using brightly colored line on one rod and moss green on another yet don’t seem to catch as many fish on the colorful line, could the line be the issue?

Every time I cast, my leader and sometimes my fly line doesn't land straight. Leader usually lands at the end or before the fly line and I feel this is ruining my presentation and scaring away fish. Could this be because of my leader? Fly line? Or just a crappy fly caster?

Thinking of getting a 2000yd spool in orange. For freshwater trolling (Lake Erie) and whatever I can do in saltwater (maybe twice per year). If orange is no good (I just like the color) what is ideal? I can’t imagine that dark green is a good choice in salt water.

Is there any difference in 100% fluorocarbon mono leaders? I mean if they are all composed of the same material is there any reason to pay more?

I'm new to fishing and I'm mostly using small crankbaits or top water lures.

I'm wondering if bigger fish just ignore these small lures because it's not worth their energy going after it, and do I need bigger lures?

Will small fish go after bigger lures?

I recently acquired an old heritage redfish that I've repaired and wanted to use 303 protectant before taking it out to help protect the plastic. I saw a guy on YouTube saying I shouldn't wax my fishing kayak as the smell/chemicals will deter fish. I want to know if this is true in anyone's experience or not because I think it would be good to add protection but ultimately want to fish. TIA

I've been fishing constantly as long as I can remember. I’ve jumped into every category and method of fishing I could get my hands on.

Now Im putting probably 14-16 hours a week out on the water. I’ve seen a pattern in every type of fishing where there is a happy medium between excessive gear nerding, overanalyzation, etc and total simplification and tradition, where I’ve been able to make the most of my time, efforts, and money.

What are some of the things y’all have noticed along those lines?

I have a Garmin Striker 4 Plus, that I use for my kayak and ice fishing. I mainly use it just to map the smaller lakes and rivers I fish. I would like to upgrade my fish finder, and I would like to find something where I can download the maps I create to a computer to review, and possibly print. Does Lowrance, Garmin, or Hummingbird offer this feature. I started looking into it, and it seems like the available software is more for updating the maps.
