Does braided line color matter? Do I need longer leaders if I’m going with Orange?
Thinking of getting a 2000yd spool in orange. For freshwater trolling (Lake Erie) and whatever I can do in saltwater (maybe twice per year). If orange is no good (I just like the color) what is ideal? I can’t imagine that dark green is a good choice in salt water.

Only matters for salmon as far as anything I fish for. They are a little line shy so I use a really light pink for salmon. Anything else, steelhead, sturgeon, catfish, perch, crappie, walleye, anything in the lower 48 I’ve fished for and line color only made a little tiny difference on salmon.
I know a few guys that use blue camo n swear by it.
I buy Army Green. Doesn't seem to matter much for Salt water. Not sure about fresh water.
For trout (and salmonoid, but trout is my primary) I try to make the line as invisible as possible. Particularly in heavy fished areas. As for trolling for lake fish, I probably wouldn't go for bright orange but that is not based on ant evidence what so ever. I do use yellow in salt water for visibility but there is a leader on that. In direct tie I usually "feel" green or subdue colors are better. Again more what makes me feel is right than any kind of evidence otherwise.
It might make a difference, but I cannot tell. I keep the colors either grey or green, but some have red and yellow, and still catch.
I use a blue camo made in Finland 12# for every thing and every lure no problems many different sizes of fish
For Salt water, I don't think so. I have been using wire leaders both shiny and black for over 50 years and the fish still bite. Now fresh water, Again wire leaders. On Pike and other"Toothy" fish.
Question How good are Floro Leaders on fish with sharp teeth?
