Kayak fishing: Will wax deter fish?

I recently acquired an old heritage redfish that I've repaired and wanted to use 303 protectant before taking it out to help protect the plastic. I saw a guy on YouTube saying I shouldn't wax my fishing kayak as the smell/chemicals will deter fish. I want to know if this is true in anyone's experience or not because I think it would be good to add protection but ultimately want to fish. TIA

If petroleum products are in the contents it may..may leave an imperceptible film that is on the surface.
-you might want to keep a closer eye out for protesting environmentalists. 😁
