Braid to flouro knot help

Have 15 lb power pro v2 and 6lb seaugar red, doing the double uni knot and I can't get my flouro to not snap, I tied a polamar knot with it so see if it was the line and it worked fine, was cutting in to me before snapping. I am wetting the knots when tightening, not sure what I'm doing wrong, watched several videos of people doing it but can't get it myself. Flouro doesn't want to slide down the braid either which I feel like might be part of the problem.

I understand the FG knot is superior to double uni, is slimmer and the strongest out there, however for me they’re a bugger to tie. I generally use the Alberto knot, cinches down with fluro or mono to braid with no problems , is strong and easy to tie.

Using that light a leader, I would definitely use an Alberto knot. The braid wraps around the mono and doesn't put any cross line pressure on the mono, just gives it a good hug.

I use the FG knot to tie mono to braid. It’s a very easy knot to tie once you get the hang of it. It’s a very low profile knot so it goes through the rod guides with no problems. There are several how to videos on YouTube. Good luck, and tight lines.

I use swivels to attach my fluoro leaders to my braid line. This is the one I use...it is only an 8 lb. test leader, you can go larger if you like.

The upside of this is it pretty much eliminates all line twist on my spinning rods (which is the reason I use it). The downside is that it, or larger ones may not go through you tip eye (I use 4' leaders so this is never a problem for me).

Here is a photo next to a ruler:

For steelhead slip bobber fishing where I use braid for the main line and a flouro leader. About 3’ 4’ of leader. I like a swivel in between with a bead above to stop the bobber from hitting the swivel. Bead above the bobber of course. I tie the braid on with a Palomar knot and the flouro on the swivel with an improved clinch. Seems to work. I like the swivel so that I don’t ever cut the braid if I change leaders. Id do the same if I were trolling plugs. Same idea with fly fishing but I use a micro ring above my tippet so my main leader never gets cut shorter. No bead needed. Wet or dry.
