Mr. Samples, that J. Doesn’t stand for Junior does it.? I’m predicting you’ll go past that doctors estimation., I mean,
what does he know !! I hope you haven’t given up fishing just because you’ve caught more fish than the average human. It’s still fun to feel the tug on that line and then see what is on the other end. God bless
Woody

Chicken and or Chickens and Catfish are some of the best there are to eat, no doubt. They are the scavengers of the earth and water. BTW, I’ve eaten several rattle snakes…. Only after they were skinned of course. These rattlers were of the larger size (5-6’). They were put on the grill and cooked slowly.
A little seasoning and tasted quite good

I’ve eaten nearly every kind of wild game. First 5 years my life in oil fields of West Texas, then next 15 in central Texas, then next 27 in Southwest Louisiana, back to Central Texas, now back to Louisiana for 2 1/2 years. I didn’t see any mention about Turtles, Turkeys, or Wild Pigs from you guys.
I have certainly found that cooked right, just about everything tastes good when you’re hungry !! Crawfish Too !

About 25 years ago I went to Toledo Bend with a Real Fisherman…. He owned a camp…. We didn’t go right near his camp, but took his boat about a mile away. He told me to buy a Buzz Bait (I think with a yellow skirt). We fished out in the middle of the water right as the sun was coming up. That buzz bait made all sorts of noise as I reeled it back to the boat. “Keep the rod tip up” my friend told me, as a large mouth bass ferociously struck the Buzz Bait. When we got her in the boat I told my friend “I’ve never caught a bass that big”. She weighed exactly 6lbs. What a treat for me.
Thank You Craig Burns for a Special Day in my life. It is a memory that is still cherished today.

Well, I’m no expert, maybe others will advise, but I love to fish. From what I’ve heard about bass fishing, find and get to know people with small ponds, otherwise you can go to Laccasine Reserve, Bundicks Lake or Toledo Bend!
For big Catfish All the freshwater rivers are great. For Trout, redfish, drum, and gar fish, the Calcasieu Lake, Big Lake, Mermentau River , Grand Cheneir, and Cameron are the places to go.
Don’t forget to talk to the local people and fish shops like Lake Charles Tackle,
Bowie Outfitters, and Academy . All these places know where to fish and they know what baits to use to catch whatever fish you’re going after.
Good Luck!

The winter big crappie fishing is in full swing here at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental On Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home.

I’ve fished Bull Shoals & Norfork over many years starting in 1978. My good friend, John Self lived in Mountain Home. I visited him many times and he treated me to a fishing trip nearly every visit, Life Time Memories!!
John was a Tremendous Host and an even better fisherman. John was @ 15 years older than me and taught me a great deal about fishing and life. John was a kind , generous man . I miss John a great deal, as he passed away a little over a year ago, may he rest in peace. BTW , great fish !! Keep it up and keep sending us those pictures.
Thanks, Woody from Lake Charles, La.

I am so proud to be a part of this group! The pictures pick up spirits, Makes us think about others, reminds us of our younger ones we should get outdoors with and helps us to remember an uncle or a dad or, in my case, a grandmother that spent time to take us to the lake, river, or creek to fish. Thank You All for Chiming in.
This means A Lot to us that are getting older , or need to be reminded, or just came off Another Major Surgery.
Keep up the good work!! Woody LC, La.

Melissa… Fly Guy gave great advice on All of the Above… from pier fishing (with a light at night), to lures (Try a Rattle Trap for Specks & Redfish) or Shrimp & Bait Fish, to talking to locals & bait shops, and fishing shops about when, where, and what baits. I’ve even gotten great advice from customers in Academy’s and Walmart’s while shopping in their fishing departments.
Glad you’re visiting Louisiana, a Great place to fish, eat, and travel.
