Hello again! I will be bringing my cousin to, or somewhere close to Grand Isle, Louisiana in mid-February to have his first experience with fishing. He is 24 and currently lives in Seattle, Washington. Any advice for fishing or lodging, would be greatly appreciated! (Best time of day, best weather conditions, best fish to attempt to catch, best lures/bait, bank fishing vs. boat fishing etc.)
ANYTHING really!!!
Thank you in advance!!!
Sincerely,
Melissa

Good morning, Milissa, and welcome to the Forum. Grand Isle sounds like a fun place to be in Feb. A lot better than MN. Evidently, they have the most common saltwater fish in the area, reds, specks, flounder, black drum, sheepshead, and of course, some nuisance fish also. Whether you are fishing from the bank or inshore, I would use live shrimp, ghost shrimp, or fish bites. Stop at the local bait shop and see what they have to say about the bait and where to go. Piers are always nice to fish off. The specks bite best from a lighted pier at night. They like silver spoons. Visit some YouTube videos for the rigs and how to fish them. Good luck, we do love pictures. Enjoy!

Melissa… Fly Guy gave great advice on All of the Above… from pier fishing (with a light at night), to lures (Try a Rattle Trap for Specks & Redfish) or Shrimp & Bait Fish, to talking to locals & bait shops, and fishing shops about when, where, and what baits. I’ve even gotten great advice from customers in Academy’s and Walmart’s while shopping in their fishing departments.
Glad you’re visiting Louisiana, a Great place to fish, eat, and travel.

Melissa, you could also try the bridges leading into Grand Isle, with live shrimp or plastics on the bottom.

You didn't mention a boat. If you do have one lots of inlets that hold both salt and freshwater. I've caught flounder, reds, and bass all in the same place. And welcome to the forum.
