I use a cutter from a dental floss box, mount it somewhere that you can reach it readily. I also use the cutters that come with weed-eater line, it dosent get as close to the knot but still works well. These work as well for mono and florocarbon. Keep fishing.

If you are fishing around deep cover, cast the bait out let it sink to the bottom, take up all slack, jerk the rod until you feel the blade vibrate, let it fall again on semi tight line while taking in slack line, when the bait touches the bottom, jerk again and follow the same routine. If you are targeting suspended fish,, count it down to the depth you want, and use the same routine , keeping the bait in the desired depth. If the bait stops on the fall jerk, possible hit. Sometimes I'll use a creature bait as a trailer. They usually have 2 long trailers on the end. If you use a large, long bait you may need to bite (cut) the head off to shorten it some. I use it shallow water also, just move it a little faster, yoyo it in around cover, trees, brush. All lakes are different in what triggers a hit, experiment with different retrieves to find a pattern. Keep fishing, DEEJAY

No don't use vinegar, I use denatured alcohol and Q-tips, or a tooth brush trimmed to let it go into small places. A round nylon brush that would fit inside a straw works well. Vinegar is an amino acid and very corrosive, might ruin some parts. Keep fishing. DEEJAY

Sea sickness usually starts when you lose site of the shore, and starts to ease off when it comes back into view. When the boat is moving watch the horizon. That gives you a focus point for stability. Don't watch the water near the boat, that increases the sensation from the wave movement. I use meclizine, it's used for vertigo, inner ear infections, and dizziness, you can get it over the counter, just ask the pharmacist. Its not expensive. Good luck and keep fishing. .DEEJAY

I have 4 Sharkey III, bought 4 more for gifts, they all are very smooth, cast great. All are 3-4 years old now and never had a problem with any of them. One of the best brake systems I've seen on a spinning reel. Keep fishing. DEEJAY

Never had a hook past the barb, until last year. Im 72 . My buddy and I were night fishing for walleye
I netted his fishgot hold of it and it flopped. 1 trebble in the fish, 1 in the net,, and one hook in the edge of my thumb nail òf my right hand. Took me half hour to get it all untangled. Worked the hook out of my thumb with needle nose pliars cleaned it off best i could, went back to fishing. My buddy's wife is a medical transcriptionist for our hospital, she wanted to know how long we were at the emergency room getting it cut out. She had typed up 100's of reports of kooks being removed, she thought surgery was the only to get them out. I've taken hooks out of a lot of people and from experence it worked out good for me. Had blood every where that night. Keep fishing.

Charlie N is right, in bass master magazine years ago an experiment was made in crossing the 2 fish. The results was that the hubred was so aggressive after all the testing that the program was halted and all the fish produced were destroyed. It was determined not to be a suitable fish to release in any water. I can't remember all the details, so I dont have anymore details. If any noe wants to look it up the article came out in the 80's or 90's. Shouldn't be to hard to find. Keep fishing. DEEJAY

Grizz, I lost my son, an only child, 7 years ago. He was only 42 years old at the time. He was my fishing partner, for nearly 2 years I didn't fish at all. It takes some time to learn to deal with such a major loss. The hurt will ease with time, it takes different amounts of time for each person. I thi k about my son every day ,now it's the good times that i think about. I talk to friends about him, and that helps, because they knew him also and can relate to what I'm talking about. I'll never stop feeling the loss and you probably won't either. The days will get better. There are some grief support groups in lots of areas. Check with some funeral homes to help find some close by. So sorry for your loss. My sons initals D.J. is what every one knew him by, that's why I go by DEEJAY .keep fishing. DEEJAY
