This is not intended to strike any nerves but wondering if anyone has the same take I do on disability recipients. I qualify for a few different disabilities but would never take them because I’m active, I fish a lot, hunt a lot, able to work and DO part time, retired over 3 years ago and live within my means according to what I’ve made, the decisions I’ve made and what I get from social security (which I paid into my whole working life). I know people, too young to retire, who are living on a disability check they don’t really need and brag about all the things they do with it. Just not right in my opinion. Am I wrong in my thinking? I believe a person should have to justify needing a disability and not just a doctors excuse from a family member who is in the medical field.

I agree Catfish H****r: They have little sk**ls other than faking their condition. If and when the disability pay is cut off, they won't be able to do anything. Just Sayin...RJS

I feel that if you are s**mming the government for a disability check then God should afflict you with the disability you say you have. That would only be fair. IMO of course.

I feel the same way I was taught you work for what you want in life my 3sons worked in my company on the weekends and during the summer breaks.
It is sad what is going on in our country right now !!!
These people need to get up and find a job.!!!
Good fishing 🎣 and hunting and safe trips 👍

If you've ever tried to get a disability approved, then you probably are aware of the difficulty of getting approval. Now in my opinion, it's a s**m and I'll tell you why. You go to your doctor with wh**ever ails you. Say you have a job that you've working at for 20 years, and it requires you to be on your feet all day long. Now you've developed something in your joints (knee, hip, ankle, wh**ever) that prevents you from doing that job, and you're doctor says you need to quite it. So he works up all his paperwork and submits it through the proper channels to the "board". The "board" has the final say on whether or not you're gonna get your disability approved. The "board" sends you to one of their doctors to have you evaluated. Their doctor - who is being paid to find nothing wrong with you - submits his paperwork with his findings to "the board". The board sends you a notice that your request has been denied, because their doc said you're ok to go back to work. Now you have two options. You can drop you case and try to go back to work, since you need an income of some sort. Or - and here's the s**m - you can hire a lawyer to represent you before the board and request a hearing. Once you've done that, the way the s**m works, is you've dotted all your I's and crossed all your T's in the eyes of the board and your disability will be approved. The problem is that anyone can do this - whether they actually have a disability or not - as long as you get a lawyer involved, you can get approval. If you've got an honest doctor, he or she will tell you all about this. Of course if your doc is honest, he won't be requesting you get approval for a condition that doesn't exist. So in case you don't really have a disability, you need to get a doc who is not too much on the up and up. They're out there, and if you play into the s**m and get a lawyer first, your lawyer will tell you which doctor to go to. And none of this will cost you a dime, because the lawyer and the doctor will make sure that the board will award you several thousands of dollars of "back pay" that should have been receiving - and a good chunk of that money will go to pay -- guess who.
Who does this hurt? All of us, because it's tax payer money. And it especially hurts the folks with honest to god disabilities, because they really don't have a choice but to get involved.

I have a friend who spent many hours on the flight deck of a carrier. His hearing is shot. He wears hearing aids, which he has purchased himself with no help from VA. I don't know, does VA cover that? I'm retired Navy, but I don't use VA, I have tri-care for life and can go to any doc that will accept that, and most do.

The VA covers hearing aids for all vets.
In your friends case he should submit the paperwork for disability for his hearing loss Spirit. He deserves it.

I have to agree CH especially with the ones on disability that seem able to do everything BUT work, I know people who could draw it but won't, my son has ms and some days it's hard for him to walk or use one hand, but he says as long as he can do it, he's going to work. Makes me proud of teaching him good work ethic and morals to do for himself 👍

I know, but he's a stubborn old bass fisherman. What you gonna do with somebody like that? Like I said, I know nothing about the VA and what they cover. Do they allow you to pick the ones you want and then help you pay for em? Or do you have to go with what they have available? This guy's got plenty of money, so it's no big deal to him if they don't cover what he wants.

Get Short and Long Term Disability Insurance at your job if possible. It is NOT paid for by anyone but the insured.

There is Policies and Laws. Attorneys simply point out where a law or policy is not being followed.

Relatives can't change results. If they are liars its a conflict of interest. Like the guy that was impeached twice had.

Call in and report both people if they are breaking any laws. IF you know anything about this topic there is many penalties for fraud but don't cry the blues about it if your not going to report fraudulent claims for Disability.

Don't forget to pay out of your pocket ( nobody elses taxes or money) for Long and Short Term Disability. It will help you when you need it. Its worth every dime when you need it.

If someone is so TOUGH they dont ever want anything they paid for then be tough but don't cry that others that need are utilizing what is rightfully theirs. They paid for it. Noone but the insured pays the premiums.

This makes me think of a time at work when a very lazy a$$ had the nerve to tell me that I was making him look bad because I was working to hard. I quickly let him know that he made himself look bad, that my dad taught me when you are paid to do a job ( and we were getting paid very well) you do your best, just saying

I have hearing aids from the VA no cost and free batteries the rest of my life! Also he will get money money from the VA for disability of his hearing !!
Have him go to his VA board to the Navy section and he will get a representative and they will start the paper work.
I receive money ever month from the military tax free from my injuries when I was in the Service.
So let your buddy now.

They are the top of the line I got my hearing aids 2yrs ago.
The VA tries to keep this quiet. He earned it just like all of use did.

You did good. You should be proud of yourself. I am. That’s awesome. Plus your son can feel good about himself too.
