Are you matched up well with the rod, line and weight? Also is it adjusted properly. I have several different brands and they all do well when everything is adjusted properly and matched up good.
JoshJones: I'm sticking my neck out, but I would bet dollars to donuts your reel that you have now just need proper adjusting. Unless it is broken or some part is missing, it needs to be cleaned and adjusted. If you don't have time, take it to a shop that specializes in reel repair, have them go over yours and both clean and adjust it properly and you will likely find it will perform much better. 1. What type of fishing line are you using, Mono, Braid, Fluorocarbon? What pound test are you using?
2. Is the spool completely full to proper capacity?
3. Is it adjusted properly?
$ Take it to a bait shop that installs fishing line and ask them if any thing can help tp improve the castability.

A Revo SX is an excellent reel! With good line, properly filled, and properly adjusted should cast as far as any other quality baitcaster.
