Nice fish. Nothing better than trount fishing a stream, hitting the holes and riffles. Good job Steve
Glad to hear your mom is doing better, I know its tough with your elderly parents when you’re not around. Just came back from Clovis Ca celebrating my Dad’s 102nd BD yesterday. He lives with my older sister so there is some family with him. Hope all works out well.
Nice fish, where did you put in and did you go south towards Oakland airport?

Yep saw is correct. Live bait at Bodega tackle. It’s best to call if you get bait from LL to be sure they have it. We stopped using live years ago for a few reasons. Cost and keeping them alive for a full day was tough. We use frozen herring on both trolling and drifting. Last year was a little slower for us but previous years it wasn’t uncommon to have a 20 to 30 fish day between 3 of us. We have 4 or 5 spots we fish between the SRB and Angel island. I’m hoping to be back on the water on the 20th. Looks like decent tides.

Thanks for the info. The live well pumps in from the water so would need to get bait near the launch. You launch from LL? Is it worth going further south this time of year? Coming from the north bay it would be much easier head out from LL.
That’s a good deal better than your last trip, nice to see it’s picking up. I’ve got a spot in my boat if you want to hit the Napa again sometime. PM me if you want to go.
Trolling up and down the Pet, didn’t have a hit until 1:00. Haven’t decided where to go out offor the bay, probably Loch Lomand. Do you know if they still have live bait there? If we can find bait then drifting, otherwise trolling with frozen. Had been thinking of driving around to Alameda or Berkeley but not sure. All new to me.
Nice halibut especially for the north bay so early. Been watching the reports and they haven’t looked promising for halibut. Hoping to get in the bay for the first time ever in the next few weeks. Fished the Petaluma for 7 hrs today and came up with two fish, both keepers, with three lines in the water. Been really slow the last two months. Sorry no pics.
Glad to see that you don’t have to do all by hand. Enjoy the quiet and be safe.
It’s even worse when you have a national marine sanctuary when the say “see state and national regs” to determine what is allowed. Lots of research.
I believe they changed that to 365 days from the time you purchased. Also in the ocean for halibut no rod limit, but not in SF bay, one only. Still have to get mine renewed.
Like you said you’re retired and don’t have to be anywhere. I could sure think of worse places to have to spend another day.
Live and learn huh. Making it shorter sounds like a real good idea, much less leverage. How rough was it out there? Looking at ocean conditions out of bodega seems like its pretty rough seas.
Great job a limit an hour is really good. You let them soak for only 12 min or so? That’s quick.b
Thought that was to Steve. 😌
Good day on the Napa, glad you got out there with Brad. I still want to take you out to the Napa one of these days so you can pass on more of your wisdom.
Really nice fish
