Well guys, I wanted to give y'all another update on my Mom.
She's doin better since I've gotten here and hopefully things will continue to improve.
Today was my Dad's birthday and he would have been 99.
I ask Mom if she knew what today was and when I told her the date, she said "Daddy's birthday."
So she can still remember certain things very well.
I took my BIL out to the farm yesterday and let him look over everything. Had a very good time.
On our way back through Ralls, one of the little towns we grew up in outside Lubbock, I took a couple of pics.
They were of the Main street and the town square area.
Things haven't changed alot, maybe a little more deserted than 60+ years ago. I think that might have been rush hour. There are 3 parked cars visible in the pics but just our vehicle drivin through town.
But I wanted to give y'all a look at how things were where I grew up in Texas.
The brick streets say alot. Don't know when they were laid but they've held up for ALOT of years without need of repair. More than we can say for asphalt.
I'll try to post again in a couple days. I'll try to get a pic of the countryside to show the farmland and how FLAT the Texas plains are. You can see a lightbulb burnin for over 60 miles. REALLY !
Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. They've worked wonders and are appreciated. Steve.

So glad that your visit is going well and that you are taking time with your extended family. As I have said before my mother-in-law is 96, and my wife knows that we all have our days numbered. I'm convinced that she will top 100.
The town does look lonely. Be safe.

Good news about your Mom and glad you're getting to relive some nice memories. My first reaction upon the Main St pic is that it is easy to imagine horses tied up where the couple of cars are. Very cool. Enjoy your visit.

We have bricks on Main Street. They were put in when the government had the work program during the depression

Glad your Mom is doing as well as she is. Iā€™m sure it helps with your being there.
Bricks did not do well in this climate due to all the frost heaving and heavy traffic.

Thanks everyone. I believe it has helped havin me here. I just hope she doesn't relapse and go downhill after I leave. My sister is havin to take more care with my BIL and is not able to get up to see Mom as often and somedays she can't get up there at all. Whereas, I've been goin up there twice a day to spend time with her before and durin lunch, and then after her nap, before and after dinner. It really seems to have made a difference.
Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. Nothin better than the power of prayer.
Hope you all have a very blessed Sunday. Steve.

Glad to hear your mom is doing better Steve.
I also grew up in a small town, the difference is mine kept growing.
One good thing living in a small town is if you forget what you are doing, just ask anybody, they all know your business as well as you do. Lol

Here in Dallas about 35 years ago, I was talking to a lady and learned she was born and grew up in Ralls. She said she was the youngest of 21 siblings. Wow!

Wow, is right. Do you know her name? What her last name use to be?
