Got fish Loc: Petaluma

Decided to skip the bunny this year and see if there were any early halibut in the bay. Fish SPB in Northern Ca. Jumped on the boat mid morning with a brisk breeze. Lines in the water and fought the wind most of the day trolling. Slow day with one fish but I’ll take it. Could have been a skunk. Fished close to San Quentin prison and was glad to be where I was, on the water. Early in the season with a lot more fish to come!

Hey Saw! You been fishing the Petaluma or Napa lately. The one we caught was just short of 26”. Just big enough for some fish sticks and chips.

We were out on the Napa last week and we fished HARD and never got a bite ALL day.

Like you said GF, one is better than none! I have yet to get out, we’ve been doing repairs and maintenance on the boat. Going to launch it Wednesday and get out shortly after that as long as the shakedown run goes well. I’ll be sure and report how we do!

Oh I get the “repairs” thing. Last season we had to overhaul the outboard and wow was that a learning lesson. It’s always something.

We figured it was a little early for where we fish in the North bay. Wasn’t a great tide to fish and water was so-so as far as color. Where abouts do you and your crew launch and fish? I can’t get back out for a few weeks, girlfriend and family demanding a few weekends lol. Let us know how you do and depth and water clarity if you don’t mind.

That’s crazy the bay seems full of stripers right now. We caught a few while sturgeon fishing a few weeks ago. Some guys I know have been catching many fish at China camp, Loch Lomond and the brickyard. You’d figure they’d be stacked in the rivers. Maybe your next trip will be epic!

Nice halibut especially for the north bay so early. Been watching the reports and they haven’t looked promising for halibut. Hoping to get in the bay for the first time ever in the next few weeks. Fished the Petaluma for 7 hrs today and came up with two fish, both keepers, with three lines in the water. Been really slow the last two months. Sorry no pics.
