Would have liked to see the whole fish
I would say so. I would also say, get it back in the water before it dies.
Looks like Wallace Lake! Fished off that wooden structure one day when the ice was too thin to walk out. Casted out to previous drilled holes and caught fish! Dragged them across the ice. Four inches of ice there and you’ll see 50 guys instead of 2.
I believe the reel makers pack the worm gear with grease to protect during storage and shipping in cold weather(condensation). I replace with oil before using.
Believe it or not, Cleveland, Ohio! We always seem spared from all the major weather events.Temperatures are not extreme, mostly mild winters. Plus we have Lake Erie to fish for walleye, streams to catch big steelhead, and enough inland lakes too. Also lots of pro sports teams.
Being a fellow NE Ohioan, that would a bass of a lifetime for me. Great job!!
Sitting here with my arm in a sling. Almost like having a cast on. Rotator cuff surgery. Makes you rethink how you fish. Never want to go through this again. Anyway, just want you to know I’m in the same boat. Hang in there.
Congrats! I know that river. Very good river to fish. I will be sitting this season out. Rotor cuff surgery this week. I know you’re hooked now after that fish. Good luck and catch many more.
Check out the Red Phillips knot. It combines an overhand knot and a uni. Very fast and easy. And very small too.
I would do a search on Lake Erie charters in Fairport Harbor and see if any have slots open. It’s walleye and perch season now. You can also catch some nice size steelhead in that area of the lake. Fairport Harbor is just a little west from Geneva.
I don’t know if a shock leader is going to help with snapping off lures. I would still use a leader anyway, but a short one you can cast with. Make sure your braid is spooled nice and tight using a wrap between your fingers. It should feel hard on the spool. That way your line won’t dig in to itself and lock up on the cast, and you won’t loose your lure.
How about taking a job at Cabela’s just to get the employees discount?
Great post to start the new year! It’s sad to see what bass go through at tournament weigh-ins. To much handling and prolonged picture taking. Then some fish are thrown in the water when they’re done. I can always tell when a tournament was held, the cove where I launch my kayak is littered with floaters.
Yes I have. They work too.
