If you want to stay in Fairfield, try Lake Mohegan. I don’t do any fresh water fishing, but I walk around the lake sometimes and occasionally there are people back there catching trout. It’s a pretty easy walk and quiet during the week.
Just checked the app for ethanol free gas in my area. I posted earlier that it was $10 a gallon. I see it’s up to $15/gallon now so yeah….don’t think I’ll be filling my tank for $900.
Ethanol free gas is not sold at any pumps in Connecticut. I looked up a gas station in my area that claimed they had ethanol free gas. When I went to the station, they had racing fuel in 1 gallon cans for $10. My boat has a 2001 150 hp Mercury with a 60 gallon fuel tank. I run ethanol gas from the marina and add marine stabil to it. I’ve had the boat for a couple of years and have never run ethanol free gas in it, so I have nothing to compare it to, but it doesn’t seem to be an issue. Buying 1 gallon cans at $10 a pop is just not a realistic option for me, so I’ll continue to use the ethanol/stabil mix. Btw, it’s a 2-stroke motor, not sure if that makes any difference.
Sounds weird. I’ve hear WD40 works well, but I guess if the bass have hemorrhoids maybe that works better
I fished from a kayak for years. Shoulders can take it any more so I moved to a boat. The shorter handle sounds like a good idea for the reason already mentioned about getting it out of the way of your vest. I liked my rods a bit longer though, 7 ft worked well for me. I had a 12’ kayak and needed the extra length to reach around the front of the kayak when landing a fish that wants to take you to the other side
I have 3 Penn Battle 2’s of different sizes. I like them a lot, but I’m also looking for a new reel. I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about the Daiwa BG’s. Thinking about pairing it with a Lamiglas Black inshore for stripers. I’d be interested in hearing what others say as well.
I either tie it to the main line or make a leader with a barrel swivel on one end and the clip on the other. Then you’ll still get the action if you want
My phone doesn’t receive notifications while I’m driving. You have to actually tell your phone that you are not driving to be able to use it while you’re in the car. I’m sure some people will go on their phone and say they’re not driving. You probably can’t do much about those knuckleheads, but it’s a good reminder to stay off your phone if you have to physically tell your phone you’re not driving.
I use 50lb braid and 40lb leader in the Long Island Sound. Strippers get just as big or close to it in the Hudson.

I see it on a daily basis. I’m a chef at a hotel and we put out a really nice spread for our breakfast buffet (pre c***d of course). People would take huge plates back to their table and not eat half of it. Then they would go back to get more of wh**ever they liked and eat maybe half of that. Guess they figure they paid for it so they can just throw it out. What a waste! Never mind the fact that hotels and restaurants actually cost out the food they put out and base their prices on their food cost percentage. When the cost is consistently high, they raise the price. Everybody gets to share the price for greedy, wasteful people!
