You got it, same to ya and have a wonderful Christmas Season...
It's that time for sheepshead here in Flawda... Post'em if ya catch'em... I know I will as soon as I can get at'em. Good luck folks and as always, Keep them lines tight and rods bent.
Welcome to the club Buddy. Lots of cool people here.
Sorry to hear that... I hope ya'll are coping well with your loss, though it's not so easy. Hang in there.
I'm happy for ya Bud. Bring on the new fishing days to remember with your son. As far as the rod brought along with the fish caught...At a fishing pier, one dummy hogged the entire end of the pier with six rods. Ended up going home with five after a biggun pulled his newest expensive rod over the rail while he brought in a small catfish at the other end...LMAO. The guy almost cried because he says that he had just bought it for $125.00. Sad, but that's what happens for hogging up a spot with no regard for other anglers . . . That might've been his rod . . . =)
Andy you are one heck of an artisan. That turned out awesome. I'm sure that kid is going to cherish it his whole life. Great job !
I know it's already getting a little hot already, but I'm sure there's still some Pompano to be caught. My question is where on the Tampa shores can I realistically expect to possibly catch some right now. Anyone...anyone . . . =)
First of all, welcome to the forum. Thanks for all your hard work. Time to enjoy your retirement. Check out the forum thoroughly as there is plenty of info shared here.
For one thing, always,if possible, use live pinfish, greenbacks or shrimp (all live ) and I'm sure that alone can help ya get started for fishing the gulf ... Good luck and tight lines.
You're much appreciated Ivey. I hadn't thought about what you said about how things tend to change in most areas. I'll be definitely keeping that in mind. Most people attribute the red tides affecting the area as a natural thing, but I always say, isn't that a coincidance that the damn red tide originates and is concentrated at the mouth of tampa bay?!? That's where the MOZAIC's plants are ! ! ! I'm sure some politicians or people that investigate these kinda things get a decent paycheck for looking the other way. Anyway, thanks for knowledge passed on by you,I'll keeep it in mind everytime I go out fishing again.
Live bait by all means. Live shrimp, pinfish and greenbacks if fishing in Florida...
I think you'll have some fun on either. I have heard of some people swear by the east being the best for surf fishing, but you know how it is,what's great for one may not really be so for another person. Myself? I would say the Gulf is better depending on the spot you try. Always keep up on the weather and the tides though.
Good luck on wherever you choose to go and keep us posted on the outcome. Tight lines,Buddy!
It sure does cut easier with the toothy fish. Try going up by 10lbs. on your main line with mono leader, at least 2 or 3 feet long. Good luck and keep them lines tight my friend.
Sorry to say,but I had to let'er go because they were out of season here...strictly catch and release at the time. I'll let ya know on my next one though, they're in season now =).
I hope to get on a big red like the one on your pic. =)
