Good mornin', Clyde, welcome to the Forum. Unfortunately, and this is MHO, I don't think the people and the fishing forum down are very friendly. I hope I'm wrong. I would join the forum and also take a walk on the beach, talk to the surf fishers, take a walk on the pier and talk to the pier fishermen. Prove me wrong.

Clyde,
Step one. Go on https://ameliafishbites.com/ and read all the "howto" articles, and if you are interested in surf fishing look at the surf fishing tab. Step two. Go to YouTube and search for the type of fishing and area you want to fish. Putting "howto" in front of your search term can help you find instructional videos rather than just some guy fishing. There are several guys who put out good videos in the Pensacola and Alabama area.

Hi, I recently retired to Kings Bay area in Crystal R. FL. I am on same journey to learn how to fish these inshore species. You may want to look into the internet site, Salt Strong, which has a number of videos and more detailed lessons for members. The videos I have watched are helpful. Tight Lines!

What I meant was that he should try the forum and also talk to the people. I did that, and I didn't think they were very friendly. Gulf Shores/Orange Beach/Pensacola have very friendly people and The Gulf Shores Fishing Forum is as good as they get. It could have been me, the way that I came on to them, it was only my thought that they seem a little rude. No big deal.

First of all, welcome to the forum. Thanks for all your hard work. Time to enjoy your retirement. Check out the forum thoroughly as there is plenty of info shared here.
For one thing, always,if possible, use live pinfish, greenbacks or shrimp (all live ) and I'm sure that alone can help ya get started for fishing the gulf ... Good luck and tight lines.
