I started to copy and paste this to Facebook for my friends but, decided not to as Facebook is now censoring most posts and would block/delete it anyway.

Thank you. What's your monofilament knot for a lure with an eye? And which do you use for line on line? I use the uniknot for the first and bloodknot for second, but it took a while to get it on the first time xD

On-slip loop knot.

I have two Hobie outbacks that are just over 12ft. I have a balance problem so I opted for the outriggers and it's really great. If you buy them used you'll save a lot of money and the pedal system leaves you hands free which is a great feature.

If I had it to do all over again, I definitely would get a paddle model, it saves a whole of time getting to where you want to go—not to mention the effort to get there.

The rod is much more important than the reel; spend most of your funds there.

I’ve used Zap A Gap on my braid for over 15 seasons connections primarily to fill in gaps , it makes for smoother flow thru guides and probably adds a little strength to knot !
It does not weaken braid at all with this glue I’m positive of this !

Seems to me that a gap in a knot means an incorrectly tied knot; cut it off and redo it. Wouldn’t want to lose a good fish due to that knot.

This is a very good time to buy a reel, Shimano is redoing their Ci4+ reels so they are on major discounts at a bunch of places. They are an amazing lightweight reel and are incredible for the sale price. They are selling out fast so it's worth taking a look at them asap.

All of the Bass Pro stores in Virginia are out of stock and will not let you order them.

One that is four to six foot longer for sure. I had an 11 foot one and turned over twice by just leaning forward a little bit; lost over $300 worth of gear and glasses. Sold it shortly after turning over the second time.

What about just using WD40 , just a thought 💭

Beware that WD40 is a solvent, not a lubricant. Should not be used for this procedure except to clean the reel before properly lubricating with water proof grease.

Considering my first fishing yak. Perception Outlaw 11.5. Why should or shouldn’t I buy it?

I appreciate the feedback. I really like the idea of the “lawn chair” style sit on top with the open deck and stability for casting. I also have looked at the Bonafide rs117 - which is essentially the same thing for $200 more, that I can’t seem to justify.

I had one of this length; it worked me to death just trying to keep it on a straight line while paddling. Go with a much longer model (14 to 16) feet. Would also suggest getting one with pedals for ease of operation.

Is there a good reason why or why not to buy this kayak?

I will be using it mostly on rivers and the intracoastal waterway - flats and marshy areas as well. Mostly I hunt reds and trout.

Thanks in advance!

Does the possibility exist, that you washed them so well, that they need a lube-job?

This is likely the cause of the problem; never force water into the workings of any reel.

Way too heavy.

Send it back to the company, they will replace it for a small fee.

I hooked into 2 weakfish today on the south shore of Long Island big lost them both. I had my drag loose one time and what seemed to be tight the other as once he started to run he must’ve ripped the hook through his mouth. How do you reel in these fish, it seems loose drag is not good even tho I’d think that’d be what would work. Any tips?

You have to set for a loose drag and reel them in slow and steady, no yanking back on the rod. Slow pumping of the rod works well. Hook size is also important, needs to be big enough to get a good hook set, small hooks tend to pull out easily.

Sounds to me like he is holding reel upside down and trying to reel it. That means he is trying to reel backwards against the anti reverse cog. Being new to fishing he may have assumed that the spinning reel should be on top of the rod, not under the rod which we all know is where it goes.

Stop using an “offset” hook, that style of hook causes the lure to spin.
