I use 20 pound max . 50 pound might be good for halibut

20 is more than heavy enough. Wire leader for halibut - they have serious chops.

Welcome to the Forum, Saltwaterjared. 20# max, 15# would do fine.

The fluke will see 50. One time I was fishing with friends on my boat and the were catching fluke but I was getting nothing. I switched poles to 15 or 20 and I was catching too!
