2500 vs 3000? The larger spool allows for more line and is directly proportional to the casting distance. I like the 3000 for my bass fishing rigs used for dropshot and weightless worms and maybe small crankbaits or swimbaits. I like 4000 size reels for striper fishing e.g., jigging, jerkbaits, and topwater plugs where I use exclusively braided line. The 1000 and 2000 size are normally used with ultralight rigs and for panfish. All the big name companies offer decent reels at the $100 price point. Look for sales. Pflueger, Shimano, and Diawa all offer good quality, although I have found that Shimano reels all come priced a little higher. Good luck. Btw, a buddy bought a Kast King reel that lasted one season. Not sure if it was just a lemon or what.

I have a kast king spinning reel that I bought a few years ago. I us it exclusively for lite line surf fishing. I have not had any issues yet. I clean it thoroughly with fresh water after each use. It is a very smooth casting reel.

An elderly Florida lady did her shopping and, upon returning to her car, found four males in the act of leaving with her vehicle. She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at the top of her lungs,
"I have a gun, and I know how to use it! Get out of the car - NOW!"

The four men didn't wait for a second threat. They got out and ran like mad.

The lady, somewhat shaken, then proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and got into the driver's seat. She was so shaken that she could not get her key into the ignition. She tried and tried, and then
she realized why. It was for the same reason she had wondered why there was a football, a frisbee, and two
12-packs of beer in the front seat. A few minutes later, she found her own car parked four or five spaces farther down. She loaded her bags into her own car and drove to the police station to report her mistake.

The sergeant to whom she told the story couldn't stop laughing. He pointed to the other end of the counter, where four pale men were reporting a carjacking by a mad, elderly woman described as white, less than five feet tall, glasses, curly white hair, and carrying a large handgun.

No charges were filed.

Moral of the story? If you're going to have a senior moment...make it memorable

I’m taking my granddaughter up to the kern river tomorrow and was wondering how the upper river is doing or would the lake be a better bet. Since it’s with my granddaughter I’ll be bait fishing. What has been working?

If you have a chance contact the Kern River Fly shop. Even though they are a fly shop it is a great group of people and they can give you up to date information on the current conditions.

Thanks and Good Luck

I thought it might be some kind of trot line, but when you said shot and cap maybe Dynamite fuse 😂 just guessing, waiting for someone else to come along with an answer 😂😂
My grandpa used it for fishing back in the day, so he said 👍

If it lites like a fuse, maybe Grandpa was doing a little dynamite fishing! "BANG"

Good evening, hope to find you all well. Mid morning I hit up this pond/lake. It has recently been stocked a few weeks ago. I used mice tails, salmon eggs including rainbow power bait , I also used a pink rooster tail . Didn't get no bites but I'm wondering if it's my inexperienced to fish for trout. I was raised saltwater and it's very rare I try some freshwater. It sure was relaxing thought and overall it was a clear water day 🎣✌️

Hello Rico
Try this sometime. Use your favorite floating bait, powerbait, marshmellow and worm, etc.
Tie 2 sugar cubes with a slipknot about 1 foot from your bait., do not us any other type of weight. Cast out
and as the sugar melts the bait will float back to the surface. this lets you fish the entire water column.
I've been told that the sugar acts as an attractant also?

My wife and I love the product called Spam.
We eat Spam-a-lot ( Monty Python pun intended).
What is your take on this canned meat?
I've heard some obnoxious terms for the word Spam so please remember, this is a family friendly forum.
No wordy derds. ( spelling incorrectly also intended)
Commander Bell out

I love fried spam but my wife hates it. The only time I get a chance now is when she goes away for a day or when I'm camping. I can't pass up spam musabi when I stop at the local Hawaiian restaurant.

Hello, can anyone help me identify a few good spots to fish out of Ventura, Oxnard and Port Hueneme? I have been doing the usual spots… i.e. Mother’s beach, Harbor Cove… Etc but I’d like to find something new. Thank you.

If you don't mind going a few miles north of Ventura. Take HWY 101 North and get off on Bates Rd. make a left cross the HWY and turn right into the county park (don" recall the name). You will park on the bluff and walk down to the beach. I've had luck catching surf perch there.

I don't think so Tim. Dick Pratt is a well know photographer from Ohio and I use a lot of his.

It is so beautiful and full of colors. I was curious only because some of the newer phones take assume photos and I was going to be floored if that was one. A truly talented photographer to capture such beauty.
