What is this? Found in old fishing box

I have no idea what this is. It was found in an old fishing box.
It has line, a sliding door for a compartment and says shot and cap on it.

I thought it might be some kind of trot line, but when you said shot and cap maybe Dynamite fuse πŸ˜‚ just guessing, waiting for someone else to come along with an answer πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
My grandpa used it for fishing back in the day, so he said πŸ‘

Shot n cap first thought was black powder n percussion cap.

It does look like a trotline reel but I don't see any rings on the line to attach the hook and line to.

Cut of a short piece of the line Mark and try and light it. If it's fuse line, you'll know. Might just be for DuPont spinners.

Tim my grandpa told me that he would Dynamite a deep holes in a creek and that was food for the family, back then whatever it took to eat I guess 🎣🎣

I’ve thrown m80s in a pond before but dynamite? Fish come out cleaned and ready for the frying pan.
