Contact bait and tackle shops in the area where you intend to fish. They will be more than happy to give you information and sell you the necessary bait and lures for a successful outing.

Maybe the Provo river between the two reservoirs in Heber valley. Check with the fly shop in Heber.

Mc. You can try Pueblo Reservoir to your South. Up north there is Cherry Creek and Chatfield Reservoirs. There are others in the Denver metro area and north of Denver. Contact a tackle shop in Colorado Springs for more information .

Paul, Colorado is a big state with lots of fishing opportunities. If we know where you are and what species of fish you are wanting to catch you will get more precise instructions. Good luck and don't become discouraged if you are not successful the first couple times out.
You might want to target blue gill ,crappie and stocked trout at first to get your feet wet ,these are pretty easy to catch . Ask for suggestions regarding bait from tackle / bait shops ,marina stores in the area you will be fishing

Yeah, they do. They trap crawdads really good too.

I also have one. The couple times I have used it I caught nothing. I have tried a can of cat food and also some bread in a mesh bag,and ( yes I did punch holes in the cat food can) just in case anyone was going to "offer" that suggestion.
What is the better options for bait.

Can't help you on Rigeway fishing as I have not made it there yet. Hope to catch some smallmouth bass if I get my boat finished. In Clifton/ GJ area. 78 years old so move slower these days. Let's keep in touch.

Randy

Randy, my wife and I will be in Montrose for 5 weeks June 9 through July16. We will be at James Robb SP the week prior. We usually fly fish below the dam at Ridgeway. I would like to try my hand at SMB on a fly. That could be a lot of fun.

If the regs require barbless only that is a C and R only area. If that is the case, you must use flies and lures only. Bait is illegal.
To answer your question I crimp the barbs with my tying vise or needle nose pliers.

Anything you can catch fishing is better than what you might catch with the other, if not careful. LOL!
