The regular one that breaks in two and just clips together work great and don't really take up that much room when you take them apart and stack them together.

I also have one. The couple times I have used it I caught nothing. I have tried a can of cat food and also some bread in a mesh bag,and ( yes I did punch holes in the cat food can) just in case anyone was going to "offer" that suggestion.
What is the better options for bait.

I have always used a cheap can of liver flavored dog food for mine. I too punch holes in it.

Good luck Mark. Let us know how ya do.
OH, and by the way I freeze mine so it doesn't wash all out and everything.
After you catch your minnows, just put the can in a plastic bag and freeze it to use again next time.
I still have a can in my freezer in Tahoe and it's probly been in there 5 or 6 years. Maybe longer.

I've got one in the creek right now ๐ค. I believe that's about the only one you can use in Ohio. Well one with a maximum 1" hole
bacon works great for crawdads

I use the one Whitey showed you a picture of. I spray painted mine black. I use corn flakes, corn bread or crackers in mine. Seems to work well. Only thing I donโt like, seems to catch larger minnows up to chub size. I also seine for minnows. Burns me when the bait shop counts one at a time. They buy them by the pound. Many dozens and dozens in a pound.
Hey stagers This is why I asked about the collapsible minnow trap.I don't have much room I'm wondering if anyone is using the collapsible to see if it's worth the money to buy. II know how to use the Silver kind. Bar talk is the only the silver works as I know they do. Dog food ,flour, shrimp ect. I think its location location location. Just looking for other opinions.
Thanks and tight lines

Namvet69, Bait shops have overhead, just like any other business, and it's considerable. Bait is not a huge profit maker according to a guy I know who's been running one for 40+ years. The biggest trouble for him is in spite of his best efforts, many of the shiners he sells die off in his tanks, and he's got a great setup. Chiller / great bubbler system filters etc. Uses the dead ones to feed crappies in the pond on the property. Sometimes I walk down to the edge and they school up in anticipation of being fed. Even without the shadows, the feel my footsteps.
Fortunately for him the eels & crawfish have a much lower mortality rate. The bait gets lots of foot traffic into the shop then he needs to sell
tackle, nets, line, coolers, etc, to keep the lights on.
Wife runs the shop when he gets customers for his charter boat. Nobody gettin' rich doing bait shops, with Bass Pro type competition plus other online sales.
