Fishing Platte River @ Sportsmen's Paradise. Catch 5# Brownies , Rainbow, and got two 1 # Brookie. I fish bait with sliding sinker & drift. Technique is fine BUTT pinching down barbs. Still have trouble removing for release if to stuck they end up on table. Can't find barbless Hooks anywhere ? Currently in mountains west of Woodland Park Colorado. No Amazon !!!

In a real pinch you can spend the snow months with a Dremel and a vise and grind the barbs off. Just sayin’ In the meantime the table is a very good alternative in my opinion.

Most of the manufacturers do make barbless hooks. Depending on where you live they can be difficult to find. If you do mail order, Cabelas or Bass Pro are good places to look.

Brad... Wulff's suggestion was spot on. I searched both Cabelas & Bass Pro and they have all types & sizes in barbless. Search is over ! nutz

They sell Barb crimpers at fly shops I'm sure Cabela's has them too. You can also get temco hooks that are barbless. I use barbless hooks in catch and release Waters not only to protect the fish but my hands as well.

Yeah Pute, it's tough to yank out that barb if ya can't keep goin' until it emerges. I'm pretty sure most of us here have had a bad experience with a hook or three.

I just did a search and timco still sells barbless hooks. When I have the fly rod out I never use a barbed hook. Every time I tie a fly the barb comes off. Over the years I've saved myself a lot of grief and was able to get the hook out of a fish's mouth easily and most times not even touch the fish. Don't forget to always put em bk.

If the regs require barbless only that is a C and R only area. If that is the case, you must use flies and lures only. Bait is illegal.
To answer your question I crimp the barbs with my tying vise or needle nose pliers.

When I am using a fly rod I always use barbless hooks no matter what the regs are. But, fishing Chatfield for walleye I don't bother with the barbs. Boat fishing and fly fishing are a horse of a different color.
