Any suggestions on where a rookie fly fisherman might go and not get too overwhelmed by the waters and have a good experience? I fly-fished a couple of times years ago at Decker s.
Welcome Eduardo.
Hopefully someone in your area of your state can point you to a few spots.
Maybe try a guide/guided trip if you can afford it. A good local fly shop can also be a great resource for you too.
Fly fishing is well worth the time and effort.
Good luck & tight lines!
Mickey
Decker is a nice spot to try again of you are still in reasonably close proximity. Nice fly shop there too! If you enjoy hiking a bit, the Rocky Mountain National Park is a great place to do some fly casting. There are some nice high altitude lakes as well as streams. If I recall correctly, there is a nice open meadow stream right near the park entrance just after passing thru the gates on the Easterly side coming in from the Denver region.
There are also some nice rivers along the roadway on the drive in. Can't recall their names but I caught trout on flies in all of them a few years ago.
Good luck!
Clear creek in Golden is easy to fish but it’s got a lot of activity from kayaker’s and tourists. The Blue River below the dam in Silverthorne is another easy spot to access. Just other fishermen there.
I recommend to all fly fishing novist, that they give bluegill fishing a try. Given the number of strikes, and fish landed, you will not be a novist for long and have a lot of fun to boot. Bluegil will hit both floating flies and sinking flies.

Eduardo, Welcome. In my opinion the best ting for you to do would be to join a flyfishing club. Some in the club will be happy to mentor you and give you encouragement. Besides, ya can't make too many new friends. Just isn't possible.
Thanks for the input, I'm probably a little too independent for that but a good idea.
I'm just made plans to go that way later today, thanks.
Thanks for the insight. Any suggestions of where I might go for that type of fishing?

I did go out to Decker's again on Father's Day. Lots of folks fly fishing, didn't see any catching but I had a great time with my new rig and only lost 1 fly!! Water is definitely moving pretty quickly.

Pueblo reservoir, brush hollow, Arkansas River are all near you.
