I am new to this site. I live in Washington, Utah now, originally from California. I fished the Eastern Sierra's generally, guided on a limited basis. I am also a fly tier and have been a guest fly tier at fly fishing shows.
I also fished the San Juan River, New Mexico for 18 years. Tiny flies to size #22 on occasion, but #18-20 worked just fine most the time. Terrestrials during the monsoon season is the secret that nobody talks about.
I now concentrate my efforts in Southern Utah for Tiger Trout, Rainbows, Cutthroats and Cutt'Bows. Also scouting Bass ponds and lakes. Found Golf course ponds here to be hidden gems for bass. Private courses are closed to fishing, but public courses are free to fish after the golfers are off the greens.

Welcome to the Stage, Midge. Glad you decided to join us. The golf course ponds are so nice for clear access, no trees and stuff ( usually) interfering with the casting and retrieval. Aeration sprayers compensate for the shade loss, and all is good. Good Luck !
Thank you...
I have not found any Fly Fishing clubs here in St George/Washington...are there any?
FYI: I am formerly of Sierra Pacific FF and the Santa Clarita Casting Club.
My neighbor (fly guy newbie) and I scoped out Quail Creek Reservoir, Friday. Water temp on friends boat showing 51-58 degrees roughly, so the bass are not moving to the shallows yet, I suspect. 66-68 degrees seem optimum for bass, but maybe someone knows better.
I drive a white Toyota Tacoma with Fly Fishing decals on the back shell window. If you see me, say howdy.
