So...Ilm Paul and have spent 38 years in heavy industry (mchanic/machinist) and have been recently been retired. never had time to have a hobby until now. I and my wife have resently started fishing. we have a 12 foor john boat a truck with camper and are starting to explore fishing in colorado. dont realy know what I'm doing (fishing, I can handle a boat) so any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks, Paul Taft.
Next step is to find some water. Maybe start out with worm on a hook, then toss it in the water and see what eats it. Learning from there is the fun part. Hang in there, someone from your area will join in here.
Stay up to date on the refs. Keep a rule book in the truck, on the boat, and at home. They are fun for just idle reading to learn about different bodies of water.
Some waters have special rules in addition to the general rules. What might be a legal fish in one water might not be a keeper in another water. It may be prudent to look at the fish and game website from time to time as sometimes they implement emergency rules after the books are published.
Summary:
Stay updated on the regs, wear life jackets and sunscreen, don’t run out of gas, and most importantly-HAVE FUN!!!!!

Mark V
Loc: Colorado, now RV full time we winter in MesaAZ
Paul, Colorado is a big state with lots of fishing opportunities. If we know where you are and what species of fish you are wanting to catch you will get more precise instructions. Good luck and don't become discouraged if you are not successful the first couple times out.
You might want to target blue gill ,crappie and stocked trout at first to get your feet wet ,these are pretty easy to catch . Ask for suggestions regarding bait from tackle / bait shops ,marina stores in the area you will be fishing

Where in Co. Are you fishing from, and what are you fishing for?
Chatfield, 11 mile, Grandby, are all good fisheries in the metro area.
