People head to America from everywhere on the globe no matter who v**es for who. No matter who is in office. It never changes regardless of the doom and gloom attitude. Where are all of your relatives from? Can anyone in America truly say none of my relatives ever migrated to this great country? Some can. I know all my relatives migrated here from 4 different regions but I am just as much of human today as they were when they seeked a better life for wh**ever reason. Most of America's inhabitants originally came here to get away from dictators and religion.

I don't have a problem with immigration if you wait your turn, apply and do it legally and not just hop the border and expect U.S. citizens to pay for all of your needs. We have plenty of veterans and senior citizens living in poverty that should be taken care of before others that are here illegally.

The Biden administration has swapped Brittany Griner for convicted arms dealer and smuggler, Victor Bout. Bout is also known as “The Merchant of Death “.
Was it a good decision?

Absolutely not. We trade for Anti-American athlete while leaving a USMC vet over there. Typical for this anti-American POTUS

You all must remember Greg's ketchup post how long it ran.

Well let's see who likes fruitcake. Last count on another thread was 5 of us.

And for you home makers of it, recipes are most welcome.

The fruitcakes out of the MREs during Desert Storm weren't bad, but then again, it had been a while since we had real food so...

My name is Joe, and i am new to Normandy Lake in Bedford County. I would like to go fishing for Crappie and Bass. Can anyone give me some information on this lake please? Thank you.

Your best bet would be to go to Walmart and pick up a lake map. Bridge pilings are normally a safe bet for crappie.

Coy Gaither Bedford lake not far from Normandy is a TWRA lake so you need to buy a daily permit $6 but it has decent fishing.

TWRA is stocing trout below the dam now too so if you want to try that. Trout Magnets work well.

Not to open a debate about global warming here but I was curious what my fellow anglers thought about the following question:

For whatever reasons(weather, too much fishing pressure, pollution, lack of public access, etc), have you noticed a decline in your success fishing? Are you catching fewer fish? Do you work harder to catch now than you did say 5 or 10 years ago?

Any particular reasons that you think has changed your results or are they just as good as always?

I'll give you my thoughts on this later. You folks go first.

I think the increase in number of tournaments is a problem - the lakes around here have a tournament almost every weekend and some even during the week. The fish are over-pressured in my opinion and it is downright dangerous to be out there during the weekends. Almost got taken out by a guy in a bass boat coming around a blind curve in the river doing about 70 - only thing in the water was his prop...

Targeted walleyes today with no success, hit all of the usual spots that Blaine does at this time of year but caught only snot rockets dragging crawler harnesses so switched to panfish mode swimming jigs. Caught quite a few but most were subpar. Ended up keeping 3 crappies between 11-12 and 2 perch about the same size. Absolutely beautiful day minus the eyes.

What lake are you fishing? Did pretty good on Otisco last week.

Tim's Ford has them as well. You can find a mess of them around the Blue Gill Grill as they feed them there.

Honestly, if you can afford it, I'd recommend hiring a guide for the first day. Lots of areas to cover and there are a lot of submerged stumps that can make a good trip turn bad if you hit them.

I was just out at Defeated Creek Marina outside Carthage and there were a ton of them by the docks. Also, I see quite a few in the Duck River in the spring during the spawn. Not sure where they go the rest of the year...

Right. I have had Chantrelle from trees that gave them a different flavor for sure. I thought it was a safety warning. Mt Hood is in my backyard. There is a bunch of forests starting a mile away from here at home. It is also why fire danger is REAL too.

I also found this online - Chicken of the woods growing on pine should be avoided at all costs as these are coniferous (not deciduous) trees that contain toxins that can become absorbed by the fungi, causing serious gastric upset in humans.

The spores or the mushroom type should matter more than the host…shouldn’t it?

Yes, spores can definitively tell you the type of mushroom. The reason I said that is many people do not like the taste of chicken of the woods when they are found on evergreen and cherry trees.

You can find them on a lot of different species, just don't eat them off cherry or evergreens.
