Been very slow this week....plan on fishing deep 20-40 ft.. You may get lucky and get one shallower..With the water temperature at 86 degrees and latest boat traffic...it can only get better...Good Luck! Dale Hollow is a tough lake, 1 day you may fill the boat and the next you may get skunked...sorry I can't help you more
Fished there this past weekend, the spawn is on! Dale is full of big fish..don't be surprised if you catch things different the just bass.
This lake can humble you...one day you may boat 20 the next day you may get skunked. Just keep fishing!
Water Temps were around 66
Great pics...that does bring back many memories above and below the Conowingo damn. Grow up in the Oxford,Nottingham, Rising Sun and Colora until I moved to Tennessee 21 years ago. Makes me want to hook the boat up and take a trip up to wet a line.
Fished there today....windy with white caps! Caught 9 small ones...caught all fish 5-15 feet deep, mostly on crankbaits. Current water temperature was 51-54 degrees. Tournament fisherman will be there hot and heavy for at least the next 2 weeks...
I agree with previous answers, what you're comfortable with. I'm left handed, I use my left hand on my spinning reels and right hand on my baitcasters.
I've been catching large and smallies on top water for the three weeks..last week was the worst week only caught 3, week before that caught 6, week before that was 23...all on Dale hollow...but now the crappie bite has started strong....looking for 14" plus slabs
Nice door mat!!! Gotta love some flounder and Indian river inlet...grew up fishing there
There may be a switch on it that is for flipping..if so just disengage it, then it should click up when you start reeling...not certain unless I know the brand and model
I would suggest finding mitchell creek or sulphur creek right now. Water was 50-52 degrees yesterday..I'm seeing the bass in the transition period...they are starting to move toward the shallows. I caught 5 yesterday...some in 3 ft and some in 15..mostly on points and water run offs..hope this helps and good luck..don't be afraid to throw something red
This can be a very tricky lake. The fish here will change weekly if not daily. I would say at that time of the year, they should be getting ready to move into the shallows to spawn.
They could already be on beds if the weather will warm up the water temperature.
There is suppose to be a few pro tournaments coming in around that time.
If you can, send me a message a day or two before you travel and I should be able to let you know more. I'm on Dale Hollow at least once a week.
I can tell you right now that it's a hard to get bite...at 20-30' deep.
Not no expert here on outboards but I would probably check coil output. One bad coil could cause this same problem
I've had that same problem with other reels too. With my experience I switched the reels to a different pole and it just happen to correct the problem.
The crappie are biting now!
Anytime from the beginning of April to the middle of May...the large and smallmouth will be hot on the beds. Fish just about anywhere 0-12 feet..
I get to fish Dale Hollow ever week, hopefully they will have the water level up by spring. It currently is about 15 foot low.

Not to be an a-hole but what is the purpose of the fitbit or smart watch? I go fishing to get away from electronic distractions.
I'm with Vindog1, I'm in no hurry to quit fishing so time doesn't matter!
