California is a...challenging place to live I'm sure we would all agree, but, at least here in far Norcal, I can only be grateful for the opportunity to get away from the boss and wife, out in the woods, so I can be mean to some fish. $58 is a small price to pay for my sanity. Sorry fish.

I would save pennies all year if I had to for a license here for the privilege of fishing the beautiful lakes streams and rivers around here. I agree with Marktheshark. Let's go fishing!. If you can afford to spend hundreds to go out of state every time you fish, right on! I go every weekend for gas money and the cost of bait...

Still running good,not near as high as May. I caught several small but Fiesty trout about 2 miles down from Old Station last weekend.

Got a couple of kayaks for this Sunday at Whiskeytown lake. Going to try for some Kokanoe for the first time. Did my research, bought what I need for bait and rigging. I'm excited and ready. I just hope the fish saw the same websites.
Might not catch any, but I get to spend the day cruising the lake with my sweetheart, and I bet I learn some stuff. Perfect day!

Just spent three days at kangaroo lake in siskiyou County. Beautiful alpine lake at 6200 feet elevation. Temperature about 75 during the day, mid forties at night, meanwhile pushing around 100 in the valley here. Perfect camping!
Didn't catch a dang thing.
Didn't really care. Would have just let 'em go anyways.

Went up to soda creek area on the upper Sac today, just south of Dunsmuir. Great fishing! The water has come down some, and they just stocked the area. Once I found the sweet spot it was a strike every cast. Caught about a dozen, kept two for supper.

Water has come down some. Caught some smaller ones on upper hat creek last weekend. Castella area is doing great but it's elbow to elbow there.

There is a nice campground on the river above Shasta lake at Sims road just off I5 south of Dunsmuir. Good trout fishing all along the river around there. I think they just stocked it too! Probably 15 degrees cooler than the valley. I might just have to go up there myself tomorrow come to think of it!

Be prepared for some fast water. I was on the Trinity two days ago and they are releasing a lot of water out of the dams, plus runoff coming in. I imagine the Klamath is the same. Too fast for wading.

Only one girl actually, for the last 32 years,but I don't have to chase her much so I got time to fish. She even likes to go too sometimes. Multi-tasking!

Howdy stagers. Been watching your posts for a while and thought I might join in.
I am in far northern California and I just recently took up fishing again after 40 years of absence. Been exploring all the great spots in the area and re-visiting some ones my granddad used to take me to as a kid. Glad to be back.
Looking forward to some good tips from you guys and I'm here for questions about the area up here. Hope to post some nice pictures soon!

Baum lake in Eastern Shasta County has a nice, accessible fishing pier and some nice trout. Also Kangaroo lake in Siskiyou County. It's at 6200' and snowed in right now, but great trout and the best fishing spot on the lake is wheelchair friendly. Both are a bit isolated but good fishing is worth a long drive
