There are some nice campgrounds in the Los Molinos area on the mid upper sac. Right on the river with good shore access.Have stayed there a few times fishing the shad run.

Yeah I think that if u want to target trout that your best bet would be the Redding area on the Sac. There are a lot of guides that work that area of the river for trout fishing. Maybe touch base with the Fly Shop in Redding for advice for fishing conditions and camping sites. Not all stretches of the river are catch and release. So make sure that u mention to them in regards to keeping your catch. Good luck!

I used to go fishing up near Castella on the Upper Sac!! We stayed at Castle Crags State Park which is across I-5 from the river!! Great fishing there and anywhere upriver from there to Dunsmuir--- which has a spot called Canterra Loop--- ask anyone in town how to get there!! Tight lines!!
