i was at hat creek (shasta county) in early may and the water was high and fast, making fishing difficult but not impossible . . .
i usually make two trips each year . . .
will be returning in early october, but was wondering what the water is like this summer given the runoff from the heavy winter snow . . .
thanks . . .
bruce meadows
santa rosa . . .

Was up there 3rd week of July and hat creek at the bridge was plenty fishable. Was still higher n faster than normal for July but not bad. They had just planted and catching was fairly easy

Hi PNW!! Which bridge-- Uncle Runts, the big concrete one on the left, or where the creek crosses under the HWY left to right by the day use area?? My buddy has property & cabins about a mile East from Shingletown and we'll be going up soon!! Have they filled and stocked Grace and Nora Lakes yet??

Don’t know about the lakes. The bridge crosses highway. Not much size to the fish but every hole I hit had fish. Released all that I caught that day. I like a little bigger fish if I’m keeping him to eat. I would suspect near normal conditions by mid August. Good luck n have a blast

The browns were in February n opening day end of April. I think summer is mostly bows that they plant. Lures n floating a crawlers we’re working. Behind the hatchery can produce at times and is considered part of Baum lake

No, was there for just the day. I usually camp in Dunsmuir, 1 hour drive to hat. Dunsmuir has some great fishing in the upper sac river. There are multiple spots on that sections Of the upper sac that usually produce. Great campground there right next to Dunsmuir. Makes a great homemade. Kangaroo lake is an hour from camp too n is a must visit for me

moved from palo alto to klamath falls in late 70s . . . on my many trips back to the Bay Area, i often stopped to fish around the dunsmuir area . . . a fish and game rep told me a lot of people don't stop because they figure the fishing so close to a major highway probably isn't very good . . . not true . . .

Lol, those kind of people will believe anything. I grew up in Palo Alto. Moved to Coos bay Oregon in 1977. Stayed there till 1996 n moved back to Bay Area . Talk about cost of living shock. Getting ready to retire in a year, can’t wait, n then the fish will be in trouble lol. Will be up there in 2 weeks
