Even high $ line will twist if you don't do it right

Always make sure that you are retrieving line when you reel. Otherwise all your doing is twisting line. I also find that using a swivel on my leader helps a lot.

My disappointment is immeasurable my reel broke after only 3 years

I have had almost all of my made in USA Penn spinners for well over 20 years with just occasional maintenance.
Now they are made in China and are not worth a damn. 3 years is about the life span you can expect from them.

I thought about doing it with my drone a few times. I haven’t, because the first time I crashed into a tree and had to cut the limb down to get it out.Great idea, however with depth finders and all the fishing analytics , advances in tackle ,It kind of takes away yet another chance for many over fished and depleted populations to recover. Just my opinion.

Will be fishing around Big Pine Key in June this summer. Any suggestions?
Thank you

Yellowtail snapper are alway pretty dependable off of the patch reefs. Look for other boats anchored in a line, hang a bag of chum over the side and go to it! I like to use fleurocarbon leader tied to 10 or 12 pound test with a smaller hook or jig head. Use just enough weight to keep your bait in the chum line.
Try keeping a slightly heavier baited rig on the bottom in a rod holder. Never know when a nice mutton snapper may swim by!!
Have fun!!

Live bait is great for tuna!

Live bait is always preferable when available. It keeps the small nuisance fish to a minimum.
You may not get the same amount of fish but what you get will be better quality fish. Very often when fish are finicky a live bait will get them eating.

I don’t find my lure directly to the line anymore. I found that after a few hours of casting without a swivel my line twists too much.

I recently bought a vacation place in Suwanee Florida. Insurers snuck, redfish, trout. Weather is mild. Offshore snapper grouper, Cobia, king fish. All kinds of stuff.
I love fishing, this is where I’m going to retire

I have fished southeast Florida waters for over 50 years. I rarely go out more than 10 miles for dolphin. When they are around you will usually find them closer in. Look for rips and eddys ,color changes, birds, boards, weed lines. Anything out of the ordinary.
Blackfin tuna are in closer. Try wrecks and reefs in the 120 to 200 foot depths.

I am a lifetime 60+ years monofilament line user. The best way to get twists out of your line is not to twist it up in the first place.
First thing, don’t reel unless you are gaining line Otherwise all you are doing is putting twists in your line which will come back to bite you later on in the day.
Also it helps if you use a swivel to attach your leader.

Hello there,
I’ve heard that the surf fishing is good there. Right now a lot of minnows getting hit by jacks, who knows what else. Also, occasionally some snooks might wander up your way as water temps are on the rise. We now have a pretty good population in Suwannee. You never saw them there until about four or five years ago.
As it starts to cool off towards the fall everything picks up.
Go get em!!

I believe that they have poisonous properties if not cleaned correctly. I would do some research. Also I was to that tea made from the dried fins is a hallucinogen!! Don’t try this at home kids!
