You can use two lines on some border waters; the st Croix and Mississippi (Below ST Anthony Falls, was just changed this year by our senators). I would like at least two allowed all the time myself. Sometimes it is nice to be able to cast about when fishing off of the bottom.

I have been having luck with smaller chartreuse spinners at various lakes and crawlers of course. Also crank baits that bounce off the bottom.

Fishing the Mississippi, you can use a 5 oz weight and fish off the bottom with cut bait and or crawlers. The smallies like jerk baits and crawlers small spinners and jigs. If there are panfish around worms should do the trick. Try parks and boat landings on the river and go from there. Good luck!

If your drag is set properly, should you ever break a rod on a fish? You would think your fishing line would break before your rod or I would hope anyway....

My daughters boyfriend and his 3 boys were part of this very lucky bunch! The Sheriff and his seemingly buddy barge owner hosed them $5 grand to recover their sleds and wheelers! Boyfriend had come back with an airboat and the sheriff wouldn’t allow them to fetch their own stuff had to wait 5 hours for the barge guy! Ice was 18” thick but the piece they were on broke off and drifted away from the shoreline! You can buy new stuff, lives are irreplaceable!

Wow, glad everyone is alright. I will stick to the lakes....

So where do the monster Muskies hide in Wisconsin?

Yeah, the MN DNR is promoting keeping small Northern which I believe cuts down on food pressure for the Musky but lowers the Northern population. People are Musky crazy now, so they are catering to them. No one keeps Musky that I know of so that helps the Musky pop but of course there are fewer Northern. From what I understand the younger folks don't fish for Northern so DNR is covered. Bass population is ok, and panfish is awful since some keep the smallest of fish. Fished catfish for the first time last year and that is fun, they put up a great fight.
