My husband and I are leaving for a 2 week fishing trip in Minnesota during late summer and early fall looking for walleye and big crappie. Last time wd usdd crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, jerkbaits and topwater baits. Any other suggestions?
For walleyes as the temps cool in the fall they will be putting the feed bag on. Don’t be afraid to use bigger lures trolled over deeper water as they will be suspended chasing baitfish.
I use a #12 deep down husky jerk, Smithwick top 20, #11 flicker minnow.
When you pick a cpl up in an area go back over using a rippin rap, shiver minnow, puppet minnow or a jig and plastic paddle tail. Be prepared to tussle with a musky as well.
Leeches and crawlers usually work great when trolling or drifting. Bottom bouncer rigs with spinners are a good choice as well.
Really appreciate the suggestions! Can’t wait to get there. We went for 2 weeks to Lake Vermilion 2 years ago and it was the best vacation of our lives!!!
Going in 9 days, not that I’m counting!! Thanks so much for the help.
