Hey guys. Ben and I went out on the Napa today and we had a pretty good day. (Ben better than me)
We got out to the fishin grounds bout 0745 and we has 6 in the boat by 1030. I think we had only 1 in the livewell but most of them were keepers.
Fished awhile longer out there and we doubled our catch to 12 by noon. Put 1 more in the box.
Changed locations and Ben caught 5 more and I never got another bite. Put 2 more in the Box and called it a day and was off the water by 2pm. Total for today was 17 fish.
Just took 1 pic of Ben with the catch for today. The fish measured 2 at 20 inches and 2 at 21.

OH YEAH ! We saw an Osprey come down and hit the water, BOOM ! BIG splash . Then it finally got airborne and then flew right over the top of us. It had a fish that looked bout 20 inches long. Just like the ones we were catchin. Was SO cool.

Well I met NoCal Steve yesterday morning at Lake Berryessa. We were on the water.by 7:30. Started out hitting some of our favorite spots. A little cold in the morning but warmed up nicely.not much action untill about 10am. In the next two hours we caught 8 nice smallies all between 2 &1/2 to 3 pounds. Boy those smallies put up a great fight! Then the bite totally shut down. Moved to various spots, but nothing happening. Of the water by 3pm. All fish were caught tossing a slow retrieved weighted Senkos and slow dragging Strike King worms.Still a great day. Just look at the smile on Steve’s face!

Well guys, Ben and I got out on the river a little after 0700.
Fished ALOT of our regular spots and never got a bite till bout 1100 or so. Then Ben caught a small 18 incher trollin, which we released.
We continued to fish goin back and forth between trollin and castin.
Bout 1230 or so we went back into the flat to cast and Ben hooks one bout 18 inches and we decide to release it too.
We continue to fish and we kept two 22 inchers, bout 4 and 4 1/2 pounds, a couple more shakers and another 18 1/2 incher, all released, a 21 and a 20, keepers. And we were done. It is now 230pm.
Took awhile to get things wrapped up and to Ben's house and then rush hour traffic all the way to my house.
I got home at 6 o'clock and I left Ben's house at 430.
Oh well. Was a great AFTERNOON, , foggy and kinda cold most of the morning but the sun came out and the fish started bitin in the afternoon. Total of 9 fish caught today.
Thanks Ben. I'll let you post the pics. I didn't take any, just weighed and measured.

I am a San Diego County resident, relocating from the Northeast a couple decades ago, never traveling to Northern California.
It is through this fishing forum that I became aware of the magnitude of the Delta fishery.
Last night, I had a chance to watch this 2021 documentary of CA water regulations and the impact of river diversions.
It was disheartening for me to watch, focusing a lot on the negative ecosystem impact on the Delta.
So a few questions:
1. Does this documentary portray accurately? I'm guessing yes.
2. Have you experienced any of the described impacts?
3. Is it better now than in 2021?

I can tell you that the striper and salmon and steelhead fishing is nothing close to how it was in prior years. Having fished the delta for 60 years I've seen the size of stripes drastically diminished,,,in the 60s and 70s it was common to catch 20 and 30 pound stripes now they are rare,,,salmon numbers fluctuate and we all know about that lately,,,,I haven't seen a steelhead in the delta in years we use to catch them on night crawlers or crawded tails from the bank and they are almost gone from American river,,the only bright spot I have seen is the black bass fishery which is strong,,,

You are so right! Great knowledge! As a teenager John Fogerty painted his name on the Putah Creek bridge at lake Berryessa! A ritual at the time done by local daredevils. It has since been covered over by others! Spent many summer holidays there during the early seventies watching fools jump off the bridge! Those were the days…hot boats and hot babes!
