Clear creek in Golden is easy to fish but it’s got a lot of activity from kayaker’s and tourists. The Blue River below the dam in Silverthorne is another easy spot to access. Just other fishermen there.

All rivers and streams are blown out right now. Runoff! I would go high and since you are new try beaver ponds. Above Como there are some nice beaver ponds. Also try the back roads around Weston Pass between Fairplay and Antero Junction.

Fish the undercut shorelines for pike with jointed plugs

Good luck. Tough lake. When the wind comes up go to the windy side of the lake, wade out past the mud line and throw back towards shore. Pike hide in the mud line and wait for something to swimby in the clear water.

Fished Chatfield Reservoir today, took the kayak out today first time chasing Walleye, maybe I should watch a video on how to catch them next time, got skunked but got on the water, can’t beat that, all the the lakes and Reservoirs are 12 to 15’ above capacity fished in a lot of trees, both boat ramps at Bear Lake Park Lakewood Co are under water, just the vents from the bathrooms are visible and roads flooded crazy rains this spring

Chatfield is high and stained from the rains....fishing is poor. Don't give up it is a good walleye fishery. Fish the sunken road bed from Deer Creek inlet to the handicap pier.

Did you realize that nice cutbow you caught at Spinney the other day?

Going out to chatfield reservoir above Denver again tomorrow. Third time out this year. Cold spring so things are a bit late this year. Hopefully it has warmed enough to bring more fish around. Not many boats.......yet. Tomorrow will be different as it is warm this weekend.

Lazy boy campground has a couple sites close to the water. There’s some great walk-in sites that you access by parking at Coyote Ridge Nature Trail parking area.

Little early for pike. Trout are active but wait a month for pike.

You can fish tail waters all winter long. Below Dillon, Spinney, Frying Pan or Taylor are also options. Roaring Fork at Glenwood is another option.

Going back out on Chatfield again tomorrow. Was out there today walking across the dam. Only a handful of boats out today. We are gonna wait until about 8 or 9 to get out on the water....24F at sunrise this morning. So hopefully it will be around 40 when we hit the water tomorrow.

Will be fishing the submerged roadbed again. When they flooded the lake and covered the road they left some guard rails up and the last time we were out we trolled over them and lost two rigs. Gonna try and avoid them this time.

Will give a report later.

The regulations are there for a reason. My advise is to stay away from gold medal or catch and release water if you are a meat eater. The fish are bigger there because we put em bk.

Great thread. Been married 48 years and fishing has been there every second. Lucky to have a situation where I can be totally dedicated to each.

All my life long fishing buddies have lost interest, or worse. So I have had to adjust when, who and how I fish now days.

My son in law actually caught that fish. Had a hard time keeping the boat one the side of the road bed, but when we did pretty much fish on and good size. Easy to catch the little guys....not what I am there for.
