Nice catch! Bluegill and other small game fish are always fun to catch. I like using my ultralite rig for that and a Mepps Spinner.
Senkos, and not a look a like either. It has to be a real senko. Even so, Keitech Swing Impact swimbaits, Jitterbugs and Whopper Ploppers are fun baits too and they catch fish!
I'm with you bapabear; senkos.
Hi Chief, I'd love to go fishing with you. Saltwater fish are the only kind I eat. Freshwater fish just don't have the same flavor. I'm in Laconia, where are you? Spring is probably better for me right now I have winterization chores that are keeping me busy in the house and yard.
>>if you have ever had a fish stick or fish sandwich at a fast food restaurant, you have eaten Alaskan pollack.
Not here in New England. If you order a fish sandwich or fish & chips you get haddock. Pollock isn't even a close second to haddock which is an excellent white fish.
And imitation crab doesn't look or taste like crab. It's garbage. I refuse to eat it and I love seafood.
The last time I went deep sea fishing out of Hampton Beach, NH a buddy and I caught over 200 pounds of pollock. We ended up with 137 pounds if fillets. I was so sick of pollock I haven't willingly eaten it since then and that was over 13 years ago. Give me cod or haddock, even cusk just no pollock.
You have blue crab in LA, why cheat with sheepshead? Blue crab is delicious. I wish we had decent crab up here in New England. I'm paying $27/lb for lump blue crab meat.
Sold all my ice fishing gear. I no longer ski and I don't enjoy the cold, but it does give me time in my studio. Even so, I'd rather spend the winter in warmer climes.
Is that the same private pond Bill Dance used to fish? Nice fatties! Looked like it was a fun day.
Nice fish, beautiful warm day on the water. Beats all hell out of clearing snow from the driveway!
I am considering warmer climes and South Carolina is supposed to be a tax-friendly state. While I prefer the coast so I can fish the salt and go crabbing, the cultural amenities of a city like Charleston are also nice. Lake Marion isn't too far from Charleston. Are any of you familiar with that lake, the fishing and water quality, communities on the lake or the like and can you tell me about it? - Thanks in advance!
Have fun exploring. There are places you can get down to the river bank on the east side of the river as well. One is by the baseball stadium.
You're gonna freeze your ass off kid! I used to drive to the west side of the river on Rt 3 going toward Bedford. Turn on Hawthorne Drive and follow it around to Station Road. Take Station Road and park where it ends at an open dirt lot (which will most likely be covered with snow). You can walk the river from there or launch a kayak or canoe if you enjoy fighting the current. Good luck!
You should probably call one of the charter boats in Aruba and talk to them. Aruba probably has info on fishing licenses for tourists as well. You probably don't need one if you do a charter.
Seven years younger, eh? So, we should just call you Cradle Robber instead of Jar? Nice photos, congratulations on 37!
