I use a lot of Senko's when fishing in Lake Havasu. I like to use the wacky worm style with an "O" ring around the center of the Senko. The local tackle has the proper size rings and a tool to help you get it on the Senko.

I use a circle hook between the ring and the Senko. I don't use any weight unless I'm fishing in current and I don't try to hide or make the hook weedless. Cast it out and let if free fall to the bottom and then gently bring it back to the boat and pause it every foot or so. If you feel a tap or pressure, don't try a strong hook set. Instead just gently raise your rod tip or let the fish take it.

Circle hooks are designed to hook the fish in the corner of the mouth when the fish turns with the bait in it's mouth.
Using a strong hook set with a circle hook will prevent the hook from setting.

A friend and I caught 120 Large Mouth on Lake El Salto, Mexico in a 6 hour period using this technique.

Good luck

I use 30 braid and 12 lb Fluoro leader. Ojdidit is right about the backing. Braid can slip on your spool without it.

You're welcome. Don't forget the Siuslaw River for Salmon, Steelhead, Dungeness Crab, and Blue Back.

Better crab and Salmon in the ocean off the Siuslaw bar, and best of all is the Lingcod.

Ok. I lived in Florence for 14 years and fished most of the lakes in the area. I lived on the east side of Woahink lake.

Woahink was a really good perch fishery, when I lived there (I left in 2001). I have heard it has decreased somewhat lately, but is still a fair fishery (i would fish deep and use chunks of worms on a small circle hook).

Trout are planted in the lake, in the Spring and there are some nice Largemouth in the lake. I used tubes (good in all the lakes you mentioned). I use wacky rigged Senkos where I now live and I think they would work really well on all those lakes in the Florence area. Rattle traps, Red eyed shad, perch colored jerk baits, baby bass colored crank baits, and square billed baits around the logs and rocks would also work well.

Mercer and Munsel lakes are also good bass fisheries, and there are a couple of lakes just south of Dunes City, which are routinely stocked with trout and Cleawox lake has some nice bass and trout.

Siltcoos has lots of Bass and Spinner baits in the Spring and Fall work well. Tubes were great. I liked Pumpkin with red or black flakes and fished around the reeds, lay downs, etc.. Buzz baits worked well and I'd bet the new Whopper Ploppers would work really well in all the lakes.

The best lakes in the area though, in my opinion, is Ten Mile Lakes near Lakeside. Lots of bass and crappie. Nice campgrounds are also in this area.

Other than that, just use the typical bass , trout, and crappie lures, and always have night crawlers with you.

Good luck! P.S. i was with a friend on Siltcoos a number of years ago when he caught a nice Steelhead in the lake.

I took a tourist submarine ride in Hawaii a few years ago to a reef about 125 feet deep. Prior to leaving the support ship one of the crew members told us to watch what happens to the color red as we dove.

After 8 feet everybody's red T-shirt, hat, lipstick, etc turned black. Turns out red is the first color to fade at depth. Yellow had not changed by the time we got top the reef.

Might want to remember that when using red lures. I don't know for sure, but i assume the same thing will happen in fresh water.

It means clipping the fin directly behind the dorsal fin, so the fish can be identified as wild if the fin isn't clipped and a hatchery fish if it is. Only hatchery fish with a clipped fin can be kept. Wild fish with an intact fin must be released. This helps the anglers and enforcement officers to know which fish is which.

When this happened to me, I bought some new tips at the tackle store and used super glue that my wife uses to make jewelry.

I have been using the rod for over three years since then and it is working just fine. I notice hardly if any difference.

I live in Lake Havasu City and fish the lake and river often.

October is a good time to visit as the temps will be a lot cooler (122 degrees last Sunday and 119 yesterday).

October is also when we start to fish Stripers using white Rattle Traps, Anchovies, Thread Fin Shad, swim baits, etc. We can catch them throughout the year, but I think they are more firm and tasty when the water is colder.

What you have heard about Lake Havasu is true. Make sure you get a copy of AZ and CA fishing laws.

Earlier today I stated that I felt these statues of Christ in Texas were possibly in jeopardy.

I rest my case: https://www.foxnews.com/media/shaun-king-jesus-christ-statues-white-supremacy

I have been to this beautiful place and it is very impressive.

I hope someone in the vicinity protects these statues, because I'll guarantee you that someone or some group will try to destroy them along with the rest of the country.

The criminals attacking our country don't like Christ any better than they do Washington, Jefferson, or many others.
