I was out fishing at my pond, and some huge bass kept snapping my line instantly. What should I get?

Do you prefer braid or mono?
Personally I would run 30lb power pro (8lb mono equivalent) and use an 8lb or 10lb Seagar Florocarbon for leader

Jws do you have your drag set to tight? You can land a big fish on lite line. If you're using spinning gear 15lb braid should land whatever you catch. 🎣🎣

Trilene XL, maybe 12 lb. You can use a Fluorocarbon leader but probably not necessary. Inexpensive compared to braid or fluorocarbon as well since you are new to fishing. It is a nice, soft line.

Power Pro braid. I use either 10 or 15 pound on my spinning reels.

I avoid purchasing anything at all at Dicks’ because their stupid statement on guns makes them dicks.

I agree with grizzly did they break off on the hookset? Or during the retrieve check the guides on your rod to make sure they or just one has a Nick that's cutting the line (check by running a Qtip through it see if it catches on any buy good line it's what brings them in check your knots or tie a different one good luck

That will do it also Henry. I ckeck my line often while fishing. Doesn't take much of a nick. I usually ckeck 3 or 4' of line. Thumb n forefinger or at times I'll run it across my lip. I've had bad line period. Evey time I'd clinch a knot down line would break. πŸ‘πŸ‘

You beat me to it with your comment. I'm guessing a lot of folks here hunt and or target shoot as well as fish.I no longer patronize Dick's either, I'm funny about 2nd amendment rights.

Braid is best but get it from your local or favorite tackle shop. Establish an association with them and they will help you out more so than anybody at Dicks

Many yrs ago i went to Dicks to buy a rifle. Ad said caliber of choice. I told the arrogant a## at the counter what i wanted. He git an attitude instantly. Said they didn't make it in that caliber. I said they did n he really puffed up. I went home got my gun digest went back to dicks. Put it on the counter n showed dick the page. He didn't like me showing him up in front of his boys. He said he'd order it. I said go ahead but don't call me. Then i found the manager n told him about the jerk in sports dept. I'm 60 mile from bass pro n 20 from sportsman warehouse. πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ‘

Not sure what you are using or how big that bass was, but my fresh water spinning reels for larger fish, aka bass have 15 and 20 lb braid on them with 10 or 12 lb mono filament or flouro leader. They can easily caught many nice bass. This morning I was out early and nothing doing on the texas rig senko on the baitcaster medium heavy fast rod. So I switched to my 7 foot medium fast action spinning rod with 6lb mono and a small jig head and a small curly tail grub. I got a nice crappie out of this spot last week so my not. First cast got a hit. It was a 1
1;4 lb LMB and it was a little bit of work getting it in, but it was fun. No line break. Just make sure your drag is appropriate . If you are fishing in a lake with really big fish then perhaps heavier line is appropriate. See what other people are using in the water you are fishing in.
