Hello guys:
Don't always have something to say but here goes.
Went to lake fork yesterday to catch crappie and anything else
That was out there. Used minnows. Lots of boats out there until cowboys game. Water was 84 degrees
I put in at public ramp on county road 2946 just north of bridge.
No one had much to talk about. I fish following old creek beds and channels keying on timber
And found fish in 20 to 25 fow holding to timber. Most timber had no fish but
Enough to keep me interested. I use a livescope to find the fish. I kept several crappie (10), most
Were 12" or larger, several catfish keepers.
Crappie had very lite bite, without livescope probably would have missed.
Of course more snags than fish. I fish south east of landing never more than a mile from bridge.
I buy 2 maybe 3 dozen minnows, no one counts, and go home when all gone
I have fun
It's not always like what you see on utube.

For night fishing use a color that won’t attract bugs
I fish at night, anchored or tied off,
Turn off green/red running lights, leave white light on and have a yellow led in boat for fishing activities. Very few bugs that way.
I drop green led drop light in the water.
Be safe out there at night.

Dan I had the opportunity to go fishing with a guide to ‘scout’ for fish for a group the next day. We did more talking than fishing. What I learned in a few hours was like watching a pro at his trade. Ask around at marinas and bait shops and someone will have advice. I learn a lot on the bank by asking. That’s probably how most fishermen learned.
If I had hired a guide a few years ago I would be more successful now.
Consider splitting costs with a buddy.
Good luck from Stilltrying

Yep I got one last week
Looked real from USPS
Wife said click on senders email address to find out. Sure enough it wasn’t from post office but some scrambled address. Daughter said they say you have a package with postage due. Send money, credit card number accepted for the package.
Some people pay. Easy money for scammers.
It’s gotten so bad I delete stuff I don’t recognize
Good luck

Again from Stilltrying, thanks for reply’s
Seems like fish are finicky.
I usually use live bait and catch a variety of fish on each outing, not in great numbers though.
But gulp minnows produced bites and and ‘out lived’ live bait when stored in leak proof containers. One big plus, grandkids can bait their own hooks.😀

Hello from Stilltrying, Ft. Worth,Tx.
I purchased bottle of Berkeley’s
Gulp minnows and actually caught crappies with them, probably any bait would have worked that morning.
Tuff minnows, had several left over, screwed cap back on and went home. Next week small jar was out of juice.
Bought refil and refilled jar. One week later all gone again.
Where it goes I can’t tell.
Wife, a nurse, brought home a urine sample cup. Transferred minnows and refil liquid and all is well. No leaks after 2 fishing trips. Saves $$$, works great.
Pharmacy has these cups.

Wait guys!! We brought guns to school. Common as all get out.
Had them displayed in racks in rear windows of pickups. Show them off at recess. No one got shot. No one offended. We were taught gun safety and concern for others.
We all did foolish things back then and knew we had hell to pay for certain if we messed up. And No trophies for participating!!!!!

Glad to welcome another crappie fisherman from this area.
I’m in Fort Worth and fish locally.
Not always lucky, mostly learning the ‘ropes’.
I fish primarily granbury lake , 1 for convience, 2. Kids live on lake, 3. Sometimes I catch something.
Right now I find crappie deep, but they don’t always bite.
I use minnows and / or Walmart jigs.
Have gone to lake fork, done well there, joe pool, poorly, Palo pinto, poorly. I blame my failures for not knowing lakes and fish behavior.
Hints from others can be helpful so stay on board for advice.
Good luck, send us reports on your lake’s features like docks to put in,
Marinas and hot spot descriptions.
Tight lines
From Stilltrying
