Sounds like a great place Richey! But, I'm not looking to buy another house. I bought my forever house back in 2007 on a great canal a 1000 ft off of Lake Eustis! The canal itself is really good fishing! My grandson caught a 14 # 7 Oz bass right from our dock!! And, it's hanging above our fireplace!! Good luck with the sale of your property!!!

I would assume the same, as long as the lake is not owned by one of the many communities! Then prior permission to fish that lake would have to be granted by the owner/property mgr/HOA.

The Harris Chain of Lakes is open fishing to everyone! Lots of parks open for public fishing from shore! Fishing licenses required for those under 65 yrs old or non-residents of Florida. If your 65 or older and a Florida resident a fishing license isn't required!

My grandson Kelton then 10 yrs old and now 26 yrs old always catching hogs off our dock 8 & 10 lbs and out on the lakes. We live about 600 yds on a canal off Lake Eustis, which is on the Harris Chain of Lakes in Florida. We regularly fish Eustis, Big & Little Lake Harris and very rarely don't catch nice bass the year around. Best months though are January through April when they are bedding. Almost always what I call fantastic fishing!!! We also catch lots of big Stripers and Crappie! BassTournaments of some kind going on almost every weekend! Getting ready to head out now. Happy fishing to all!!!!

Hey FishFinder! I really agree with Richey!! Central Florida and the Harris Chain of Lakes is the place to be!!! All sorts of 55 and over communities on the lakes with canal fronts and boat docks in your backyard leading to the lakes! Big Lake Harris, Little Lake Harris, Lake Eustis, Lake Griffin, Lake Dora and more including huge Lake Appopka!! Lake Griffin leads you into a series of rivers that can take you all the way to Jacksonville and the Atlantic Ocean! My neighbor and his wife made it there and back in less than 3 weeks! Gas supplies and good restaurants to stop at all the way!! The Chain has fabulous freshwater fishing!!! Tournaments going on almost weekly! Other things going on on the every weekend! Including, antique boat shows, seaplane fly-in, fireworks you can enjoy on your boat, festival and boat parades!! I suggest you look-up Mid Florida Lakes on google a 55 and over community that is fabulous! Over 1200 homesites and many many on canals with docks in your backyard!! It's got a huge clubhouse with a gym, card room, library, computer rm., pool room, commercial kitchen, huge gathering rm. for weekly bingo and gatherings. 2 swimming pools, and a separate woodworking shop with ever tool imaginable!! Dog park, shuffleboard and more!!! Close to shopping and fantastic restaurants!!!! Please check it out!!!! We love it!!!

Welcome aboard Timex!!! Loved Walleye & Perch fishing on Erie when I lived there! This is a pic of one that I caught before moving to Florida in 1985. All 29" of it hanging behind the bar on our back porch! Caught near Niagra Reef and fished out of Port Clinton. Now live on a canal on the Harris Chain of Lakes and fish for Big Mouth Bass and Crappie. The largest Bass I've ever caught 8 lb, but grandson 10 yrs old landed a 14 lb 7 oz Bass right off our dock and he's 26 still trying hard to catch a bigger one!! It's inside hanging above our fireplace!! Happy Lake Erie fishing!! No better eating than Walleye & Perch!! Ummm!!!

Here in Florida on the Harris Chain of Lakes we live on the Sheriff & Fish and Wildlife monitor the lakes and I see them almost everytime out, but I've only ever been checked twice in the last 18 yrs. They mostly watch for speeding in low and no wake zones and I sit on one of those no wake zones, so I appreciate them doing their jobs! My son did get stopped in a no wake zone along time ago and they just gave him a warning and he hasn't been stopped again..., but he does have a heavy hand on that throttle 🤣🤣!!!

Hey Catfish H! You have down load the Mercury Vessel Veiw app on your phone and then open it up after you start your motor. And, then close it up at the end of your fishing trip after your docked again. Doesn't tell you anything if the motor's not running. And, no I don't think tells you if your going to have something fail in your motor. I don't look at often when I'm running the boat, unless my gas gauge is real low. Then it'll tell me exactly how much gas I have left. Then at the end of the day check my hours. It tells the exact hours the motor has on it unlike a typical hour meter. If you happen to leave your ignition key in the on position of a regular hour meter it shows that as motor running hours. And, if someone can track me through it, I don't give a hoot!! I always run legally and follow all boating and fishing rules! Happy fishing!!

Love the Mercury Vessel Veiw!! It's capabilities are fantastic! Log-in on your phone and it tells you everything! You're hooked-up to a black box attached to the motor. Lots gauges on boats are in error, rpm, speedometers, hour meters, gas gauges and etc., but the vessel view is accurate! You can also mark your good fishing spots, so you can find the exact location later! Let's you know when your motor needs service too!! Had it installed when I bought my new Lowe Fishing Machine! Hasn't failed me yet!! Happy boating and fishing to everyone!!

I agree with Frefish!! Will do it in warm weather, but not in the cold or stormy weather. I'm scared of lighting and we get alot of it in Florida! Anytime I see a storm start to brew, I head the boat home to the dock and have outrun many of them!!

Hey Alden! Man you've got all sorts of good fishing from shore real close to you!! Starting with the park in Winter Garden on Lake Appopka! There are roads that run all around the lake that have excellent places to fish! Then real close near by you have Hickory Point on Big Lake Harris! Fabulous fishing docks and they catch lots of fish off those docks including, pan fish, Big Mouth Bass, Catfish, Stripers and more!! Check it out!!

Both! We have 4 boats. A 2020 Lowe 17' Fishing Machine with 115 hp 4 stroke Merc and um, that's where I came up with my name! Then we have a 20' pontoon totally rigged for fishing and 2 kayaks! But, we do as much fishing off our 60' dock as we do out on the lakes. Grandson 10 yrs old caught a 14 lb 7 oz bass right off our dock. He's 26 now and still trying to catch another one like that! In 1 week earlier this year from a Sat to a Sat him and I caught 22 bass off the dock and he caught the biggest one 6 lb. the rest were 2 & 3 pounders. Getting ready to head out on the lake now!! Hope everyone has an awesome day!!!
