I live in the Villages. Do you, or are you visiting?
Also I have on house on Lake Griffin,(the Harris chain of lakes) in Leesburg.
Many ponds to fish in The Villages. Catch and release. Also, there is a freshwater and a saltwater fishing clubs in The Villages.
Perhaps we can do some fishing if you are interested.

I live for many years in the Northwest area of Phoenix and in the retirement community of Sun City there were many ponds on the golf courses. Most of them had (and still have, I'm told) bass in there but it was necessary to sneak on at night time in order to go fishing. Some of the residents didn't like that, got to meet the sheriff a few times but as long as we were carrying fishing rods and not guns we were pretty much okay. Never got arrested, just warned. As RJS says, "just sayin'.

Love it! And I'm also an avid Harris Chain fisherman! Hope to see you out there someday!! No salt water for me!! Wish luck!!

The Harris Chain of Lakes is open fishing to everyone! Lots of parks open for public fishing from shore! Fishing licenses required for those under 65 yrs old or non-residents of Florida. If your 65 or older and a Florida resident a fishing license isn't required!

I would assume the same, as long as the lake is not owned by one of the many communities! Then prior permission to fish that lake would have to be granted by the owner/property mgr/HOA.

Now there is some thing i would to try. I know this might sound crazy when i fish on lakes for bass i only use
bait casters , when i go salt water fishing i brake out the spinner reels . I do carry 2 bait caster for just in case .
I do have some off shore bait caster rods and reels.

I do have some fly rods and reels plus and fly tieing kit i got when my dad pass away. Never learn to fly fish or tie
my own flys. So if you guys want to get together and fly fish some where a teach a old dog a new trick i'm in. On the bow of my boat i have a raise platform about 8" i use for sight fishing.
