I realize there are a large number of FS users but I'm just curious, how many of you own a boat you use for fishing? How many of you fish from the shoreline or a dock?

I'll start -- never owned a boat. Fish from the shore.

16 ft. Arima built in the state of Washington. I use it in the bay and off shore.
Also shore fish in the bays.

Own a drift boat, but have only been on the water with it a couple of times in the last year due to virus. Looking for a window to put it in the water to fish steelhead and salmon on Oregon coastal rivers soon. In younger days, a lot of my time spent hiking into Cascade lakes to fish for browns, brookies, and bows. Can't do those hikes any more.

Both and I also have 3 boats; an old bass boat, an old 12’ Jon boat, and an old plastic Bass Hawg 2-man. I just use trolling motors on the Jon boat and Bass Hawg. Easy to load and cheap to operate.

I've done both for about 60yrs. Currently about 95% in a boat, 5% from the bank.
Started on the bank as a child, then rental boats, then Dad bought a boat, then we went partners on a boat, then the last 5 have all been mine. Occasionally go out on a friend's boat. Used to go on occasional Head Boat or Charter boat.
