WD 40 seems to work well on exterior of my reels , I’ve been using it in that manner for years! After salt snd fresh use .
I simply spray reel with a light coat and wipe , rotate it a few times done . Complete reel cleaning I take it to get serviced every couple of seasons depending on usage that season .
I’ve never used WD 40 to spray on lures etc , however some shad anglers use it on occasion .
Fluoro carbon the 100% grade will retain memory and a very poor choice for mainline use .
Like was mentioned it’s a great leader in conjunction with braid or mono .
It’s a waste of money to install it on a reel for a mainline .
I was involved in the original importing of Seaguar Fluoro in the late 70’s and have used it for over 30 years .
Always for leaders fly , conventional and spin !
Buy a whaler no worries about plug in or out!
Daiwa Ballistic , sealed and very well made
All this is basic that was mentioned . If you do not have any experience on boats or kayaks , talk with or better go out with one to pick his brain and gain actually experience.
Rivers aren’t like lakes !
Run it over ur waders or thru a piece of rubber material or just hand stretch it stream side !
The tippet shouldn’t require this if it’s lighter material strength wise !
Shimano overpriced , repairs suck and parts that’s a joke ! Stay away !
Daiwa all the way !!
There’s only a couple of reasons that line falls off spool by itself , put on backwards, too heavy a diameter for spool size , or over filled , twisting can also be a reason but since you never used it ,that’s out!
If it’s put on by store machine it should not happen unless overfilled !

The very basic ingredient of fly fishing / casting is to make sure your outfit is properly lined ! Many fly rods perform better with different tapers / weights to fit your casting style !
If you have a fishing buddy ask him or local fly shop to evaluate your outfit by putting it in the hands of someone that can cast and make sure it works as it should !
Many lower end outfits suffer from line miss match , not always weight but horrible tapers !
You as a complete novice cannot recognize these issues get someone that can and that can get you started correctly !

Most will die , the deeper the hook was located the worse the situation , lip hooked chances of survival increase greatly !
Hook type if stainless then that can be trouble , other hook types that can rust help . Never good for any fish !
Basically correct , not familiar with Star Rods , the basic rods I use are 20 -60 lb class , very thin profile and very lightweight and hi quality , primarily narrow spool with decent line capacity and hi pound smooth drags !
Rods are by EDGE rod company from Gary Loomis’s new rod company . These are medium power , semi parabolic taper !
To present jig properly y a slow pitch rods taper must allow jig to dance enticingly so
Rod weight approx. 6oz’s !
