This is what happens when you get in too big of a hurry, irritated at the idiot that was sitting there blocking everybody from accessing the ramp, and you break your preparation routine. Not a good thing! Taught me a really good lesson. This was a few years back.

Must of had a not very good bilge pump. Or maybe one that was not wired to a float switch. I got in a hurry one time and put my boat in without a plug in and my bilge pump worked off the float switch and only filled my bilge half way up before i noticed it. Ricky Sitka

That will definitely screw up a good day. đź‘Ťđź‘ŤBacked mine in once without the plug. When I realized the boat was filling up I got the plug in. Then discovered discharge hose was broken. Ran her up on the ramp till I got the trailer back to ramp. Got it in the trailer n pulled the plug n waited. At least I got to go fishing

Had to call a tow boat. He came and put inflatable bags under it with straps around it and rolled it back over. Word of advice, don't do this on 4th of July weekend.

Bilge pump was operable but did not have a float switch on it. By the time we noticed what was going on, the batteries were covered and the pump worked for about 5 seconds. Live well lids popped and she rolled over.

Always a good thing to get to go fishing. Glad you got everything plugged up and no danger.

The sheer raw pain of the hit your ego had to have taken has me laughing my butt off...damn but that had to have hurt.

It's good you can reflect on it and share.

One time forgot the plug on my old Arkansas Traveler. Just run her fast and the speed and front up in the air sucked the water out. Anybody else ever done it like that?

Did you save her? Is she back on the water?

This happened about 10 ft. In front of the slip that you saw in the picture, and yes, we had an audience. All were good people and offered to help, but not much we could do. The bad part was, and this is no joke, my wife and her best friend were singing the Gillian’s Island theme song before it happened. At the time, I was just thankful nobody was hurt.

This happened 3 years or so ago. Had a mechanic go through and dewater cylinders and everything else that needed it. Replaced batteries and cables. Gave it a good tuneup and she has run good since. I did put a power pack in last year. I do pull regular maintenance on it at the first of the year, just as a precaution.

I am sorry you had a bad experience. I don't wait to put plug in at ramp. I usually have it in at home before I leave home. I pull it after getting out of water but put it back in usually that day unless it's raining. A buddy I bought my first boat from always hung plug from steering wheel so you would see it. I left plug out of that first boat once. In that boat I put it in then I went out and went full speed pulled it out and it drained while WOT. Then the rest of the day was great.
