Build one, it is very easy. sturdy plywood, and a couple of u-bolts.
Their action is very life like.
I use 26 inch bicycle rims mounted in a 2X4 by simply drilling holes to put the axel bolt in. I wind the line off of to reel onto one rim, then to the other rim, then back onto the reel. The rims take 39 turns for seventy five yards, so you can measure how much line you put on. I use one half of a 150 foot spool of braid backed with mono.
Use “Goop”. Can’t tell you how many things that I have fixed with this product through the years. Doesn’t seem to matter which kind of Goop I use.
I have been using Motorguide (FRESH WATER) troll motors in salt water for over eighteen years without any salt related problems.
It makes great strong thread for sewing various things that require strong thread.
You provided some good info on filling a spinning reel with line to within about a sixteenth of an inch of the rim. However older Shimano Stradics come preset with the spool spacer set to have the line wind forward on the spool for mono. Have you noticed any difference when using braid on these reels, and should one add, or remove spool spacers to bette accommodate braid?
Get a Battery Tender, and leave it on all the time when not using the boat. Have been doing it for many years, and my batteries are always topped off, and ready to go. You can get them on Amazon for about $30.
Have been reading the post on this site for a year, or so, and can’t remember seeing anything about Solunar Periods. Do they work?
Put a piece of tape on the line on the spool
Use an old 26 inch bicycle, or similar. Measure the circumference, wind on the amount of line you want, then on to the reel. I use 150 yd spools of Power Pro, wind on 75 yards and then on to the reel with some mono backing under it. That way I have another spool of new line waiting when the time comes.
Have been using Motorguide Troll Motors for fourth five plus years in both fresh, and salt water. Have only had minor problems that Iwas able to fix myself. Guess there are lemons in any product line.

Power pro on everything. When the first hundred feet gets worn I respool it onto another reel I get 4-5 years out of a spool.
I do the same I.e., use the Power Pro for 4-6 years. I also back it with mono, and only put 75 yds of braid on a reel. I made a “thing me” to measure and swap line end for end. I use two 26 inch bicycle rims stuck in holes in 2x4. I measure my line by using the circumference of the rim thus am able to put the right amount of line on the reel. When I want to swap the line end for end I run it on to one rim, then reverse it back to the other, and then back on the reel. The “thing me” may look hokey, but it works, and is much faster than running the line from reel to another.
Get a cold beer and a pick with a blunt point. Have a seat and work it out. Then reverse it. I use two old bicycle rims the I run the line on one from the spool. Then wind it to the other and back on the spool. I mount the rims in a 2X4 with holes drilled to put the axels in.
