I’m a bit new to fishing and don’t know what to do about this.

I would at least try to salvage it. Yes, you might need to unspool a few feet but I think you should be fine.

Remove half that spool and use the remainder as backer for braid.

Keep pressure on the spool of line and pull it out until all the knots are out then re spool it on, it’s a lot easier when in the pole and through a few of the eyes of the pole for tension. I do this Atleast 3 or 4 times when I go baitcasting

100% this. Maybe cast out a heavy weight or even run the line through your fingers to eliminate twist before getring onto the reel.

Should be ok to unspool a bit and use. More to the point, consider why this happened. Either the line has been sitting on the reel a long time (and maybe in need of replacement), or you have too much on the reel, or you should consider using some sort of swivel (or a bigger or better one) with your lure to avoid line twist.

I bought my fishing pole with the line already on it so that might be why. Guess I was too excited to fish and didn’t wanna spend the time spooling a line.

Should still be good. I'd recommend doing what weaseldesign suggested above, and try to keep tension on your line when reeling in. That helps to avoid tangles as well.

If you do put new line on, once it's full of fresh line, take the spool off and place it in a glass of warm water for 10 minutes, it will help mould the line to the spool giving you less chance of the line springing off the spool next time you cast 👍

It really depends on how old it is. If you have ANY doubt at all about how strong it is, remove it and put on new line. The few dollars (depending on what you buy) is more then worth not losing a lunker because the line broke. Make sure you dispose of properly. I'm sure you know this but I see way to much line near and in the water and I can put just so much of it in my pockets. Tight lines and good health.

Good tip by Rick 2497: It is easy to strip off and rewind. But, if in doubt as to strength or think it might have weak spots, or nicks, change it out. Just Sayin...RJS

looks like you might have spooled the line on wrong way or you got way to much curly, tie your line to a fence post-rock whatever, walk all that line off or 75 % of it off of your spool, cut off where you have it tied to fence rock or post, crank all your line bac onto your spinning reel slowly to unravel the twist on your line .ps in the future on windy days you never , never cast a spinning reel with light lures into the wind always downwind hope this helps you also keeping closing your bail manually every time you cast will keep your line from twisting as well.it's a good habit to get into when fishing spinning reels, believe me, it will save you a lot of line twist headaches.
