Another potential hazard is waves from ships and barges washing you onto the shore. If beach is steep it can flip you on to your side! Be warned, it could happen.
For kayakers(and other boaters, especially anchored boats): be very aware of floating logs, piers, tree trunks getting onto or into your boat. They can sink you, so know what to do to get around them. Others on this site with more experience than me, please advise newbies about this hazard.

Supposed to reach 60F today, looks like spring but prediction for next week is more rain and colder. Typical pnw weather.
Thanks for your service to your country RJS.

I remember planning with my buddies on the school bus to all pick up our phones on the party line at the same time to chat after dinner.
I agree with saw1. Look for dips in the surf at low tide, fish those spot on incoming tide using worms or other small bits. Don’t need to cast super far, perch are in the breakers.
My son fished the Siletz with a guide last weekend, only one salmon caught and it was wild so they released it.
Troll for salmon with flasher and spinner or plug. So- called “360” setup. Go on Ifish website to learn more.
You can fish from shore just above and just below the Blue creek launch. You need hip boots or chest waders to get around the trees. Good chance there will be lots of company, but i have found people friendly enough. Another place is further up at the dam near the salmon hatchery. Good luck.
Lots of spots in the Willamette sloughs and tributaries, but doubt you will find bass as big as the one you showed us.
Nice fish. Is this the same species referred to popularly as Blackened Redfish in the past and perhaps currently? I have tried blackened tuna, blackened steelhead, and blackened rockfish, found all of them to be tasty.
If its open, fish for steelhead just above Ice Harbor dam or McNary dam.
